John: Screenshots? Absolutely!

Under your Logged in info, there´s a selection to "submit skins".

Go there, select "Screenshots" from the section menu.

Use your screenshot for BOTH the filename, and for the preview.

After you hit enter, the file will upload. You´ll be given a preview, and there will be a pulldown choice of "sub catagory".

Pick "Windows", and click "Save it Now"

BAM!
You´re up and running...

{:p

Oh, one more thing, to make life as easy as possible for WebPanel designers, WebPanel will notify your panel when it´s time to start and stop animation. If you´re using vbscript in your panel, you simply implement these functions:

sub WebPanel_OnAnimateStart

end sub

sub WebPanel_OnAnimateStop

end sub

for jscript or javascript:

function WebPanel_OnAnimateStart()
{

}

function WebPanel_OnAnimateStop()
{

}

WebPanel will call these functions appropriately.

Is it possible to post screenshots here? If so, how?

thx,

John

Hi Doreen, actually the extendes skewed bar and the extended ie4 mac are the ones that I use more frequently.

Eric´s working on "Winter" or "Blizzard" or whatever he´s gonna name it. It has falling snowflakes. There´s also a function called window.external.WebPanel_SetHeight that allows you to dynamically adjust the height of your panels. I originally added this feature so that panel designers could set the height exactly how they wanted it, but being that its dynamic, I can think of some cool toolbars that might allow you to click a button to expand the panel for more options and shrink it to show only the most common ones.

Anyway, so far the testing is going better than I imagined. We had one small set of initial bugs and that´s been it so far. We´ll give them another week or two to make sure there are no crashes.

In the meantime, we´ll keep making more panels!

Fun.

Oh Man!!!!!! you guys are really really missing out... hahahaha

okay the current default themes are pretty much like something I would make, "BUT" the cool effects such as the Shooting stars and "slide out control panel" is awesome!

you guys will love this! =)

John you´ve got to be kidding using "my" toolbar still? oh you are too much! hehe =)

I´ve been using Paxx´s since he made it "Skewed" my fav!

Nope, it´s for real. :-) If you can create a Web page and know basic scripting, you can make a WebPanel. In the words of Eric, "these are fun, addictive, and easy to make". Sending a command to IE from your panel is as simple as:

window.external.WebPanel_GoBack
window.external.WebPanel_Navigate "http://www.skinbase.org"
and tons more...

It´s cool. At least we think so. ;-)

I had originally envisioned making only the toolbar web enabled back in TB1. We probably would have left it alone until I started poking around with Outlook Express. Then, the WebPanel idea turned out to be pretty cool.

Eric and I sit next to each other here at work. He´ll send you the info.

We´re certainly enjoying WebPanel. The cool thing is that you can make them so easily and quickly, and that each one is different.

John

Hey Doreen, saw the post on Teknidermy.

Although the tdermy post says "unfortunately they only want Doreen to test", we want everyone to know that we have more people testing as we speak. We put up a signup form
a coupla weeks ago and chose 20 based on system configuration.

Can´t wait to see what kind of WebPanels you come up with! (Once you get the beta that is :-) )
Ha! Of course you are. You were TB´s biggest fan. If there´s anyone who we wanted to test TB2, it was you. I said from the start, once we send to all the beta testers, we need to send to Doreen. :-)

Actually I still use your toolbar. In any case WebPanels are much much easier to create. If you can create a Web page, you can create a WebPanel.

John

Thanks. I´ll tell him. It´s a wee bit too empty for my tastes, but I have to admit, the falling snowflakes have a calming effect. Let us know if you have any problems. Most of the beta testers are reporting no problems. I´ve been able to fix most of the issues that the testers have found, so far.

thx,

Sorry to reply so late but I was adding a neat feature to WebPanel. If you seriously don´t want some of the images in the package, let us know and we´ll remove them. BTW, WebPanel supports 59 commands. I realized that some people might think that only whats on the current panels, (i.e. back, forward, etc. . . ) are all of them. They´re not. There´s 59. Basically every menu command in IE is supported and can be called from your panel.

Anyway, Outlook Express uses a different format for skinning the toolbar than the old Themebar format. Before, you had to create the entire toolbar. Now, for OE only, you draw the buttons that you want and provide a map file letting Themebar know which buttons are which. We´ll explain all of this when we finish the dev guide.

Paxx, 2.0 info is at:

http://www.microgarden.com/themebar/betainfo.htm

thx,

John

Hi John =)
no I figured that much (about the 59 commands cuz it seemed Eric only did up quicky skins just to test)

It looks like the sky is the limit w/ this build if you have a good imagination and skills to back it up. I cannot wait to see what happens w/ this!

I don´t see any bugs at all so far...

I am trying to make a WebPanel for testing purposes, but I get a 404 when I try to apply it. Either that or a complete white page. Man, some documentation will be useful I think. :)

Hey Paxx, docs are coming, sorry! We´re working on them now. Do the other panels run fine? Most of our panels were created with Frontpage. They´re basically just Web pages.

thx,

John
