well, I am often on 1600x1200 res. and try to create walls at least in that size. The reason for that is, that the images are much easier to downsize then upsize in case you want them at larger wallpaper resolutions. But I think that the majority of falks that enjoy walls on their desktops would be using 1280 res by now.. my guess. Actually, that could be a good Poll question, we can find out what the most used resolution is.?

The machines here at work are at 640x480 or 800x600. *sigh* Offices... /me instantly flicked it to the max resolution (1280x1024) and saw the comments flooding in: "Gee, you sure have small letters don´t you?"

I´d say, make ´em for 1280x1024 and 1024x768. And 1600x1200 for us crazy people.

Some one explain this to me please.... I´m 800x600 and with wblinds my buttons, icons etc are nice and large for me to see, my eyes are getting bad being on the computer all the time lol ........ so if the numbers go down like to 640x480 would be bigger or smaller buttons and icons??? If I were to go from 800x600 and go up in numbers to 1280x1024 does this make my icons and buttons smaller then at 8x6????

Yep.

/me hops into smartass mode

Say you have a 17" screen, then the width of your screen is about 17" * 4/5 = 13.6", so if you´re running 800x600, the ratio will be 800/13.6 = 59 pixels per inch

So for the different resolutions, you´ll get these ratio´s. The last bit is the percentual difference with your setup.

640x480 = 47 pixels/inch = 125% = +25%
800x600 = 59 pixels/inch = 100%
1024x768 = 75 pixels/inch = 79% = -21%
1280x1024 = 94 pixels/inch = 63% = -37%
1600x1200 = 118 pixels/inch = 50% = -50%

So at 640x480, the buttons and stuff will be 25% bigger, while at 1024x768 they will be 21% smaller.

craronics, me copy/paste your information that is very useful for me :-) one more question please, since your in smartass mode lol why is it that they give you in the system tray the icon for easy access to these resolution settings and when some one clicks on any one of the different resolutions it does not automaticly change all the settings for ya........ it actually put me through hell in having to adjust the wallpaper to fit my 17"screen L/right and up/down, then have to resize all icons and re arrange them where I had them..... what a mess. So really these settings for resolutions are not for the use of changing periodicaly?
