OK.... im so fed up with all this talk about September 11th and what happend on that day last year!!!
In the news, the papers and the sites I visit, everywhere I´m reminded of that event. But quite frankly I really don´t care/think about it anymore - ok it happend, it´s a damn shitty thing it did, but why oh why do I have to be reminded of it?!
I just think it´s totally blown out of proportions only because it happend in America.
What if it had happend somewhere else?! In London, Paris or for that matter in YOUR town?! Do you think it would have been such an "important" event then?! Sure, some would remember it but hell no, not in the same way as this!

You might think that I´m an insensitive ass that just doesn´t care about anything that happend outside "my world"!
Wrong! I followed the news that day, feeling totally empty. How could such a thing happend?! But what I saw was "just" two airplanes crashing into two buildings! I felt sad for those that died and their families and I would have had that same feeling no matter where it might have happend! I didn´t make me feel worse because it happend where it did.
Nope, to be blatanly honest, my first reaction when I heard about it was: "YES Finally". But I sorta had this nagging feeling in my stomach for the rest of the day because of that reaction!

OK you might be sitting there thinking, "what a sick bastard".
If these feelings make me a "sick bastard" then I am a "sick bastard"! Nothing/noone will ever be able to change that!

Would I have felt different if it had happend in my country/town?! Nope not at all!!

OK I´ve blown of some steam now, and I´m going to be flammed/kicked around/called name/might even receive death threats for it I know. But that´s the way I feel about it. If anyone feel different, fine, I´m just getting tired of it!

I for one ain´t going to be sitting around on Wednesday and soaking because of what happend, nope it will be a perfectly ordinary day for me!

-: End of rant :-

Most countries have rememberence days for things like when wars ended etc... I think Sept 11 will become one of those days - and rightfully so. I´m not in the USA but I still think around this time of all the innocent people who lost their lives.

And like Elwin said, it wasn´t only the WTC that was hit. I think people should be reminded of the other flights and places attacked (or attempted).

I plan on remembering, but not by watching hours upon hours of repeated footage etc...

I don´t think showing respect for the poor people who died, thier familes and the countless people who worked 24/7 in the recovery effort is sensationalizing. I think it is a very good thing that we can show the people of the world that we have´nt forgotten what these handful of luntics did. I´m glad they are televising the events. If people are not interested the media would not be there.

My office where I work,is going to have a minute of silence,in memory of the victems on 9-11

I´ve never had to post this kind of message, so I hope this comes out right and offends nobody (I also hope this works)...

The events that transpired on Sept 11 2001 were tragic and unforgetable. As the anniversary of that event is now here, emotions are high and rightfully so. A thread such as this one helps no one and isn´t getting anywhere; hence we have decided to close it from now. There will be no more additional posts made and we hope that we can all move on from here.

If you feel the urge to continue this, please do so in private.

Let everybody remember the innocent lives lost on this day a year ago in ther own way.

chichi, I´m sorry if I have led you and anyone else to believe that I have something against America - on the contrary (spell?!) But clearly since I do not live "over there" you cannot expect me to feal the same way as you do, right?! :)

And if you believe that I´m "using" my position as admin here on Skinbase to rectify my opinions you couldn´t have been more wrong. I have made it clear on any site how I stand on this matter! But if it would make you happy I could resign as Skinbase admin but that would not change my opinion on this matter. -:end of line:-

------------

I have stated my opinions now and have no further to say. If anyone whishes to continiue this discussion, please do so, I have said my final words on this matter. :)
:snow

Snowman you are a ADMINISTRATER of this site, and you make me ashammed here........ if I were not so heartbroken here, I would take that bag of sand and hammer I gave frogboy sometime a go and tell ya to go pound sand up your ass, you have been so dam insensetive, your argument and nasty remarks clearly are not over media coverage at all, that you have made plain and clear.......... I agree 100% with Frogboy, etype2 and kosasti .............. I am really disgusted in the attitudes in here over a country you don´t really know anything about..... you have said far to much and now I take it personaly......................

That´s what disturbed me Koasati, the opening comment,a callous slap in the face to America. He even said so in his comment that he expected to catch hell.

I have half a day off on Wed. I will be watching the coverage.

My heart goes out to the victems, their families and all the people who helped in the recovery effort.

God bless America,we will never forget.

I´m with you 110% Brad, but you´re wasting your time ...............it´s all too POPular to hate any man, business, or country that is succsessful.

BruB...you want chichi to know how your "heart bleeds for us", but you originally said you were "kinda happy that the U.S got a taste of their own medecine." wtf!!
I just can´t forget that you and snowman think that Americans somehow deserved this. But what really hurts me is you both actually said it.

I´m not as elegant at expressing myself as Brad, but he did a fine job of representing my thoughts and feelings. So, I´ll just say ditto to that Frgboy!

Regarding Iraq´s children - again this is not comparable to September 11 since:

a) It wasn´t intentional

b) Who knows how much was self-finlicted - Iraq released oil into the Persian Gulf. Remember that? How much damage to their water did that cause? How about setting all of Kuwait´s oil wells ablaze blackening the sky and putting massive pollution into the air (Which comes back to the ground somewhere). In short, how many of these children died due to Iraq´s own direct actions?

c) I´m very skeptical at the estimate of 50,000. I´d like to see a link to back up that assertion as I´ve not heard of it. I´ve heard figures like that bandied about that blamed it on the sanctions (which are Saddam´s fault since he takes food imports, sells them for hard currency rather than lettin them reach the people).

But as I indicated, even if the US was responsible indirectly for some civilian casualties, it was NOT intentional. And it was in a war that Saddam could have avoided by abiding by the UN resolutions. Resolutions that demanded that Iraq free Kuwaitt (remember them? The country that was conquered).

I´ve been to the World Trade Center (when it still existed). Have a WTC ID badge to meet business people there. There was nothing that could be considered a military target about it. No justification at all other than to arbitrarily murder as many people as humanly possible for reasons that have not even been articulated ("We don´t like American culture or the US being in Saudi Arabia.").

Regarding the weapons inspectors, the lead inspector recently commented that the inspections were largely a joke because of Iraqi interference and that he believed Iraq was actively working on obtaining a nuclear weapon.

We either have to take Saddam out before he gets nuclear weapons or we have to be prepared to accept him as a nuclear power.

After September 11, I´m no longer willing to accept the chance that Saddam may get a nuclear weapon or other weapons of mass destruction.

ChiChi, i´m behind you a 100%, to all the thousands of famillies that have been broken, to all the coworkers tht have lost friends and to all the innocent people that dies for no reasons. My heart bleeds for you.

But I should have not get invlove in this thread in the first place because of my apparent deferent point of view. And when you do not go with the flow, people are bound not to understand you. Therefore, this will be my last post on this subject. But I still have pain for the people that lives have change because they lost a loved one. I still have a heart you know.

Haha, etype2, yeah, he always does that... well, wrote about 10 replies, deleted etc etc, I can´t possibly say anything that won´t offend someone. Frogboy at least makes sense, while I strongly disagree, but that last remarks, etype2, were they really necessary ?...

Snowman picked the worst possible subject at the worst possible time.
He underestimates the will of the American people.
I think he made this stupid comment to draw attention to himself.

You know, just about every civilized country in the world joined with the US in the last wars, even some of the Arab countries, but not Denmark, they stayed "neutral"

In this context, the definition of neutral is --- I have no balls---

As I said in my previous post "shit happends everyday, its maybe not the best line to describe what I meant" Im no native english speaker, sorry.

"Tell me, which options sounds best?" Option 1 ofcourse, if that is reacheble, or needed. Its tried once (gulf war1), and it failed. Do you think it will work this time? All known facilities off nuclear weapens are destroyed. The regular bombardements on Irac (desert fox - until now) and UN weapons inspectons have destroyed the Iraq facilities for making highly enriched uranium (which is used to produce the bomb itself). This is even said by the Clinton administration. (Iraq has however a number (beleved to be no more then 5) of the Al Hussein missiles (the weapon needed to deliver the bomb).) According to UN weapons inspectors its not possible to buy enriched uranium, or even reactor fuel on the black market. All those facts dont convince me of the nuclear treath of Iraq. Thats just it.

You wanted a big example? Numbers make the difference for you? Iraq is a country with millions of people. The complete poisening of the Irac water system due to gulfwar1 caused the dead of an estemated 50.000 children (UNICEF). Not an act of war or terror, but it had not have to happen if there where no trade restrictons on chemicals to clear the water.

BTW. I feel sorry that I reacted on snows post, skinbase is a skinsite, not a real live discussion site (as is this treath).
