I know that they´ve revamped the site, and it works a little different than before. <br />Also, you might want to check the settings on your firewall (I know the software you´re using). <br />It may actually be blocking the windows update from doing it´s thing. Remember that the Update page is constantly sending Active X prompts to your system, and your security level may not be allowing them through. <br />Just guessing, of course. <br />:)
chadamus... thanks for the link but it only had one of four critical that he needs, hobnobber goes to the Windows Update site and it says four critical, but the download window just sits there and does nothing yet........ <br /> <br />Elwin :-) yes your right, they are working on the sites but they asked to please be patient, their trying to fix the problems..... but 2 months I think is rediculious.... I even shut down my firewall and virus scanner plus anything else I might have running, and still it keeps saying Windows Update Error etc etc :-( I´ve been trying to see if ZDnet still had Windows updates, they use to be able to scan your computer too, but can not find it any more........
Funny - now that you brought it up- <br />I went and updated mine, and it sat there for the longest time. So I just left it and went and made some lunch. 28 minutes later, it just started in again, and finished it up.( This is with DSL, mind you.) Total time to update was like an hour or better, and it had nothing to do with the actual download time. Just the amount of time it took to actually install the update itself. <br />Weird... <br />{:p
Yes /koasati: but I see it´s still not in service :-( Thanks for the link..... hmmmm I find it kind a funny there has been no TV News on this problem (2 months) with Windows Update..... Do you think it has any thing to do with this war, they said they were trying to shut down the NET :-( good place to start, no one can update there computers? I´ll try it with hobnobbers computer later today, and just let it sit there to see what happens, right now the boy next door is doing his home work on hob´s puter :-)
