I posted earlier, in the wrong place it seems...sorry...further to that post (thing about install.php not going thru and just appearing to refresh the page)...is it because you *have* to use a dbase called "newman" ? I have to use my username as my dbase name on my host´s mysql server. That´s the only thing I can come up with that would be screwing this up for me

Arite, what i want to do is, basically have a news page, and a member column page, where there news goes on one page, and the member columns go on another page. What i was thinking is, seperate them on each page by assigning each a category, and having each page seperate by category, so news categories go on the news page, and the column category goes on the columns page. <br /> <br />thats the first thing, also, how do i add a comments thing.. so people who read the news can leave comments. <br /> <br />thanks alot, and i hope for a speedy response! <br /> <br />btw, i have the newman library thing, that doesnt help me the least bit. =D

I think the problem is with box which show random news. Maybe try to remove from index.php function called ShowScrollNews(....); and test it again <br /> <br />

When I add news and select not only a section but also a story the news appears also under the selected story. I have phpNewsmanager and phpWebmagazine installed on my Windows server. Everthing seems to work great :smile: . The only problem I have is that when I fill in a random username and password I can write comments to news postings. So registering isn&acute;t needed. }:( <br /> <br />The demo versions v1.00 and v1.10 also have this problem. <br /> <br />Does anybody else has this problem? I&acute;m having troubles with Webmagazine. Most functions seem to work okay - but I have the following three problems: <br /> <br />1) The partners list doesn&acute;t work right. Specifically, clicking on a partner generates a call to ./jump.php which doesn&acute;t exist. This file is <br />also nonexistent in the &quot;newman&quot; subdirectory ... help! <br /> <br />2) The random news box works fine when there is just one article in the database. When you add more than one article - it stops functioning. <br /> <br />3) While uploaded articles appear just fine, and in their assigned categories - uploaded pictures aren&acute;t displayed with the article. <br /> <br />Any help would be appreciated! <br /> <br />Thanks!

Hi again. <br />Managed to get a fix for my first hickup. Greetings, <br /> <br />I recently put PHP and MySQL on my webserver and have had some manner of luck creating simple membership-based systems as well as a forum. <br /> <br />But, I seem to be at an impasse with PhpNewsmanager (it was my goal to install and then open her up to see how it runs.) <br /> <br />Alas, I must have some kind of setting that is fouling me up. When I login, after a successful install, it simply refreshes the page. I believe it is getting screwed in some kind of INCLUDE that checks to see if I logged in correctly. Since NewsManager does not appear to use md5, I am able to doublechck both username and pw in the admin table, and I am inputting them correctly (plus, I&acute;ve tried a couple of installs with the same results.) <br /> <br />I went in and turned my globals on, rebooted and continue to have the same problem. Since this is a test box, I have permissions set to max on every file (i.e. read, write, exectute, modify and the whole shebang,) so I am certain this is not the issue. <br /> <br />This leaves me with wondering what setting I need to tweak. I have php 4.3.2 and the latest version of MySQL. Ok, a slight update on this. I have poured through my ini file, testing a multitude of changes (until I actually broke php and had to restore the original=). No setting that I change fixes this. <br /> <br />My sessions are definitely working, with the simple scripts of my own, so I figured it must be something more complex. <br /> <br />In that vein, I decided to run a test on another news program, found here : http://nucleuscms.org/ <br /> <br />This worked like a champ. Logging in fine and everything is a go. Moved on and tried another one and it worked too. <br /> <br />But, I want to use this news program and I am very curious as to why this is not working. So, still hoping for help out there.

PhpNewsManager is a great piece of software and i am very glad i installed it on my server. In fact i completely erased my old site and my new one is based on WebMagazine. I have Newman 1.46 and Webmag 1.10 <br /> <br />However there are some serious problem that have to be corrected : :dagger <br /> <br />1. When you install the scripts in different folders (you can&acute;t put them in the same place) there is no way to succesfully use one and only db.inc configuration file, as there are different setting for the phpNewsManager and the WebMag because they lay in different folders. <br /> <br />Solution ==> You have to install the phpnewsManager first, install it automatically and then download the new db.inc in your pc. Upload the Webmag in your root in a folder and use the db.inc, changed to reflect the Webmag relative paths. <br /> <br />For example ./gfx/smileys/ has to be newman/gfx/smileys/ if the phpnewsmanager folder is newman. Then in your newman.lib file put the path to the new db.inc which you will place with the webmag. So you will have 2 db.inc file. One for the PhpNewsManager and one for the WebMagazine. <br /> <br />2. Scroller. The scroller is in a mess and when you have a lot of news it does not work. Just remove it from the Webmag&acute;s index.php and you will save a lot of time and javascript errors. <br /> <br />3. openTimer javascript error. Remove the line where openTimer is in the newman_lib file. <br /> <br />4. Partner problems. First of all the jump.php that the partners script uses when you click on a partner does not exist in the WebMag 1.10. So you have to download WebMag 1.0 and use the jump.php from there. <br /> <br />Second, when you add a partner you cannot delete him. There is a type error in partners.php of the PhpNewsManager. Go to partner.php and replace the one instance of &quot;parnter&quot; with &quot;partner&quot;. It is near the multidelete line. <br /> <br />5.
