Hello, <br />I agree with you when you said that it´s no logical that a shin which have a popular success is not featured. <br />But remember that, on Skinbase, there is no upload moderation. I have here some wallz which get over 2 or 3 thousands DL but those were modereted on 1 other site. They were never featured here but they´re online, for that, thanks Skinbase ;)
This might sound silly to some but why should a popular skin/wallpaper/whatever be featured? <br />I mean.... if it´s popular it must be known - so no point in featuring it.... <br /> <br />Here at Skinbase skins/walls gets featured because whoever makes´em featured liked´em - not because they are popular. <br />Dunno about the rest but thats how I choose an upload for featuring - I don´t care if a piece have gotten 257 kazillion downloads and even more votes/comments, if I don´t like it I won´t feature it - as simple as that! <br />Plus I don´t give a flying ´sexual act´ <b>who</b> created an upload i want to feature - if I like it I like it for it´s quality/originality/usability/etc etc not because it´s creator is someone popular/known person. <br />This might sound ruthless but I don´t care about who the <b>person</b> behind the creation is, all I care about is the <b>creation</b> - does that make sense? ;) <br /> <br />Another thing I may concider when picking a feature is what stage the creator is at. <br />Example: <br />Two artists uploads a wallpaper each. <br />(could have been anything but wallpaper is used for this example) <br />Person A: is an respected/popular artist with years of experience. His/her creation is a bang on the spot, super wallpaper. <br />Person B: is a newb, first time uploader. His/her creation is great, not as stunning as person one, but still an excellent piece of art. <br /> <br />Which one would I choose for feature if I have to choose one of their wallpapers? <br />Person Bs wallpaper without hesitation. Why? <br />Because he/she needs the pat on the back more than person A. <br /> <br />Does that sound logical? It does to me and thats the "system" I use to pick/suggest uploads for feature on all the sites I am lucky enough to be admin at :) <br /> <br />:snow
That sounds logical to me. Snowman and PK have given great examples of what makes Skinbase an awesome site for skinners.
Hey, don´t be so hard with me,I don´t never want to hurt anybody there. I had wrote a short post due to my difficulty with using English language. <br />So I´ll try to explain my thought with some more depth.(Sorry for bad syntax...) <br /> <br />I said that I have some wallz (that´s all I do) which have get a little popular success and was not featured, it´s a good thing for me, people like and download it without any "advertising". When I see some hundred or thousands DL on one of my jobs, I know I have done a pretty wallpaper. If I get just a dozen of DL, I know it´s a bad work. <br />For me, finally, users are the only judges. But when I submit the "better" of my job, it were no popular and I were a newbie (and I´m still a noob...), but you don´t like it. It´ absolutly your right, that´s the "game" : one person = one look. So understand that when I see at the top of the page of the new wallpapers something I dislike, I think "why this horror and not one of mine ..." I suppose it´s just ... human. <br /> <br />I just want to say that I submit some wallz to another site which have a hard moderation politic, admin don´t like = users don´t see. If you read my first post another time, you´ll see that I thank Skinbase to allow me to show my work anyway. <br /> <br />I don´t critisize your "system", it´s OK for me, it´s your site, you made the rules, I respect. <br /> <br />For finish, I don´t consider me as a great "artist", it´s just a hobby and I don´t run after award. I´m just a "little player" in a great yard full of talented persons ;) <br /> <br /> <br />
Srg01 - I don´t believe anything bad was directed at you. I understood your first comment to be greatful that all of your work is at least viewable to people here. <br /> <br />It just comes down to what is uploaded at the time, what catches the admin´s eye at the time and so on. But like you said, if people like it, they´ll download it. Simple as that :) <br /> <br />I know I´ve never downloaded something just because it was featured on this or any site.
