OP
May help to state what theme managers, skin types, and players you are using before wanting to do this, and what mp3 player or type of mp3player you had in mind

So you´re saying that the skins have to match the mp3 player?

And another thing, how do the log on screen things work?
Like what program do you use to install it or whatever?

Yeah, basically you have to have the program in place first for the skin to function with it... so Winamp.exe will pick up on the skins loaded for it in a theme ( though you might have to manually install it ). I mention Winamp because it is the most popular, but some themes might have Quintessential skins or whatever.
Logons are usually made for Logon Studio, WinStyles, or StyleXP ( I stand to be corrected here, ´cos I don´t use any of those ~ I use TuneUp Styler, a bit of a weird one ).

Another example is first you had windows media player installed. Then for comparison you install Winamp too. To skin both install Stardocks program theme manager, maybe their icon packager etc. or get their object desktop suite. Most things also exist in free or test version first, downloadable with their free own dowloader sd central or separately. Then you can download a whole suite, free or not, to change the looks of either player whenever it is called up, even functions sometimes. That theme manager sometimes even notices the player itself needs to be installed first and might suggest that and how. Logonstudio is also by them and free, can be controlled with the same theme manager to make a halloween welcome picture, not screen saver appear after the bootscreen on login/out instead of the blue Microsoft picture.

Other separate customizers for the logon screen not by stardock are starloader I think(not free), and logon loader, currently deinstalled on mine cause you cant use 2 at once, and I am using logonstudio. One of em changes the whole logonui exe looking nice but burning up some ram, and you need skins with vast file sizes. logonstudio is free and only replaces the essential parts of the logonui, using no more ram than windows would use AND comes with a free editor for making your own logonxp.file you then load and apply. Has a favorites randomizer or can be set to always your same favorite. Exports to Logonui files but doesnt import. Etc, there is more. Check out our skinning primer by Brad Wardell below in the news section.
