To have new equipment or...use the one we have already |O|

I have always stood by the premise that it does not matter what standard of equipment you have ,it is more the skill and experience that determines a good job or not. Prime example is right here on this site in various examples. Boxxi who was one of my earliest influencies uses Photoshop 5 for all his work, I look around and see people with the latest versions of Photoshop that cannot get anywhere near the standard Boxxi gets from an earlier versionthat most would view as a clunker and not up to the mark. 😎 ;)

And another timeless 😎 topic; still messing a bit to find, ironically only after getting the new equip I feel sure SOME things work faster or a bit better but MANY things are not limited by hardware. Software and hardware itself are potential limits. A THIRD one is not to be underestimated though: How well does everyone CONFIGURE both to reach individual max results? So only 1 out of 3 or more things is the hardware limit. Proves your point, doesn´t it? Was always amazed how well Russians, brazilian people, East German technicians etc IOW anyone willing to think flexibly + positive (improvising/ad libbing) coped with lack of basic physical supplies. When Mom said, oh well not much left in the kitchen cubbards, I´ll see what I can cook up with the leftovers, yum - drool ☕ many a soup or advanced treat came out of that for the kids. Watching more than 50% of modern movies or listening to folks new to drum computers I think - we have lost the basics. A products effects can play a key role, but without CONTENTS or correct usage - might as well sit on a park bench on a lovely spring day instead. Happy holidays to all the artists HH

Been using my Windows 98 for all my artwork since I can remember ( Probably 98, huh?) That PC is one FINE Gateway and talk about dependable! The XP is different in that its got a lot of junk ya dont need, especially music and video stuff, but its the one I use for the internet while the XP behind me is for our database stuff which could be done on 95! When it comes to buying something to replace any of these there would have to be a fire first. In Cameras the only difference is film to digital. Before I replace my film Canon the newest Canon digital better be in the 200 dollar range and Gigapixels. (I might have to wait a year for that, huh?,GT........ 😎
