How to turn off the download manager in firefox

From the toolbar on top, go to Tools and click on Options at the bottom of that tab. Click on Downloads and uncheck "Show Download Manager when a download begin"

I strongly recommend you an extension called "Download Statusbar". Once you use it you´ll never want to use the download manager again.

Hey sounds cool, just when I learned about FlashGot extension to do the same thing. Hey! Another thing to check out 1 day. I set FlashGot to only show dl man when I WANT - most times I prefer its tick box for each dl to be treated seperately - some big things I send to my free StarDownloader which is simple but faster than IE + firefox. Some stuff I want to just save to a folder, but not always the same 1. Which I decide in the manager. Justing clicking OK inside that sends to my FAVORITE download folder. All works rather fast. <br /> <br />Admit sometimes you already know you will be seeing the manager too often per hour if only downloading pics and stuff. Then I just tell FlashGot to turn that off a while. Which also worked in normal option, sure.
