Sadly it´s a story that one hears all to often in one form or another... speed and metal are a dangerous combination when you get it wrong.

Roads should be tracks instead with auto speed limiters built in interacting with how close you are to next vehicle. Ironically, only very rich old people can afford some DeLuxe cars working on a sort of radar. But if humans dont care what the sensor tells em? - so automatic might become a must after thousands more deaths. :( :(

Hey, I like the way you share moving feelings, not just small talk with an artificial smile. A family should do that with each other, friendly families too ❤️
*cough* natural selection *cough*

/me gets kicked

But seriously, life in the West is pretty docile this day and age. And judging by behaviour, people need their adrenaline rushes. Some use drugs, others do extreme sports, like sky diving, mountain climbing and some do street racing. Speed and power are virtues, symbols of virility, so to speak, so it´s actually quite obvious that these things happen.

I kinda agree with you craeonics, but only kinda. I am planning to take up kitesurfing this year, but I´m going on a course to learn the basics, and I don´t expect to kill myself doing it. More importantly I don´t expect to put anyone else´s life in danger.

Hurtling around at a ton an hour with a passenger is just plain crazy unless you are an experienced rally driver.
