OP
Sometimes it´s music, sometimes it´s the mood I´m in that day, sometimes it´s just a soft feeling, sometimes it´s the title of a book I´m reading, sometimes I just look at a finished image and the title pops. I also will be doing something like dishes and a great title will pop into my head. I write it down and try to create an image to fit the title. When that doesn´t work, I put it in my desk drawer for a rainy day.

This is a great messageboard topic Philip.

Heehee, in my last two themes, gio came from the cologne I use (acqua di gio by armani) and a colleague at work used the word "simpatico" that just stuck in my mind for some reason. I usually don´t give them alot of thought..I tend to just use whatever´s handy at the time. :-)

if there is something in the picture which already has a name (animal, nature, cars ...) then i usually include it so people can find it when they search for it.
but other then that, abstract wallpapers i try to find a word or saying which represents the athmosphere of the artwork. or i just take something silly :)

Maged Media what a cool idea. Maybe in your descriptions sometime you could share of a couple of them.

GT your imagination is in your eye and your camera.

When cooperating with other artists I try to include part of their name or the nick of theirs in the name, 2. Of course that does not equal a permit, so I get that first. But it helps a bit for internal sorting and searching and external gratification if length of name allows for the characters.

Another thing I do is subgroup my stuff into categories not existing and worth making on a site by putting a prefix in the name at a certain place, like TobTruck This helps the few truck fans find stuff via search mask even though we dont have a section for it here. Again, sometimes the whole name might get too long or force you to abbreviate. But it structures your gallery in list view by your own categories if you want that. Some might NOT want that or prefer a funny original name so the space for that has more priority. And some might want to MAKE browse through their whole gallery to find something. Which is fun, but in a store I dont like that (but there its even worse because they keep changing order to always force you to look again hoping you find something else you werent looking for). Its a matter of time.

Must admit I kinda enjoy when other people make a spoof or triple pun on a proverb or something else.
OK..... I cant always look and see a title. Otherwise I´d have Butterfly 1, 2, 3, :) Then there s good old Mr. Webster..... A definition for this or that works well. If I finish something I wish I hadnt I can call it Nascent, (not quite finished)... 😎 Or a movie title sometimes. Or a mood I see rather than a shape (Gloomy Thing). Then there´s "I don´t Know" !!!! :p :p :o

I title my art by the mood it strikes or evokes from me. Sometime I give it funny names to make me giggle or snort with hopes it´ll do the same for someone else out there that could use a good laugh:grin
Later on, The Captain:magicPOOF
