OP
I think that´s up to you Brett. I upload at 1024x768. I think 800x600 might be a little small. Anything else goes.
Nikos hasn´t mentioned 832x624... anyone using ATI Radeon drivers with the Radeon control panel has that option, it´s a bit of a weird one, but if you have poor eyesight it´s a good choice. Until recently I used it all the time so I reckon you could say 0.01% probably use it.

Iain I think 1024x768 is still the most popular because a lot of skin controls become too small and fiddly at high res´s, as does a lot of text.

it seems that 1280x1024 is best ! specially when you work with software that render for output , but about myself I use 1024 * 768 ;)

Thanks for all the replies.
I wonder where all those dual displays are? Some of our planners have them with lovely widescreen desktops.

Oh yeah....I have a seventeen inch monitor and have no problem with anything at 1280x1024...my usual viewing size. :congrats ๐Ÿ˜Ž ;) ......it is fiddly on a fifteen inch screen though which my other one is and so that runs at 1024x768. Hardly use that...slug celeron. I prefer the pace of a Pentium 4. :congrats :congrats :congrats :congrats ๐Ÿ˜Ž

If it is rendered at 1280 x1024...people can easily resize it for 1024 x768 and 800x600. It is a simple reduction with no loss of definition. The only ones losing out with my size choice is 1600x1200. Tiny percentage. If they have Genuine Fractal Pro they can enlarge an image up to 300% approx. with no loss of definition....Photo Zoom Pro is also good for keeping definition with enlargements.

I´ve always used 1024x768 and don´t plan on changing any time soon. Mary put this on a website that happens to think the only size that exists is 1600x1200. I think they were shocked and hated to admit they were in a minority.

1024 x 768 because, as Nikos pointed out, it´s the most common. When I make something in Bryce then someone requests a specific size, I can open the .br file and it renders perfect to any resolution...with PS, PSP, Gimp or most other graphics editors however, once the image is rendered/saved, nothing much to do but resize it and hope it doesn´t lose too much of it´s original integrity. :-)

What intrigues me about those is the number of people still using 1024x768. I create mine at 1280 x1024 so I cover the larger percentage which is nice to know...thanks for that Niko! :congrats ๐Ÿ˜Ž ;)

800x600 might be good for the zoom sometimes, but excepting use in stationery (greeting cards) I also think its getting less common for the zip. Inside the zip you can also add several DIFFERENT wallz and make one BIG preview showing all of the different ones. This helps considering the upload limit is 2 per day. Or you can put 10 variations of a wall and a permit txt in zip if its a zip, just show 1 in preview and say more in zip.

My current res is 1280, but 1024 is good for old laptop sometimes and I ALWAYS like a 1024 to be in zip, too because I use wallz not just for desktop, but decorating other folder windows PERMANENTLY with free tool winpaper xp 1.5 from sodabush.com. This wants smaller sizes than my desktop. Bigger sizes like 1600x1200 with a good ratio/proportions work fine on my dt, too, and you can still change by cropping if ratio is wrong. Of course then its a copy but normally still ok quality.

Now that I am messing with a new cheap camera, I am asking myself the same question again, though. Because depending on how u set it bigger sizes are almost normal, hmh. Once I learned better settings and got some more filters and some days with good weather I hope to have some shares every once and a while plus it helps for skinning without copyright coops etc. Then I will DEFINATELY try to include several sizes in each zip if they look good enough after conversion.

Great topic :congrats I also wonder: Which bigger sizes than 1600 can people handle? And is widescreen ratio popular? Which size of that?
