How Long Does The Work Take?

Time or quality doesn´t mean much as Joe public doesn´t take that into consideration when they choose the image. Each artist has their own method as you say and time taken is dependent on that factor and level of skill. I wouldn´t expect an Apo to take anymore than half an hour from start to finish. The Apo programme does most of the work and is more or less random. 3D work takes time as it takes significant time to render some images......overnight is nothing unusual. I had one render take 18 hours. My own methods see me make a lot of base art and tubes and shapes and then I pick and mix and match from those so, I guess I have three or four on the go at any one time. Abstracts like Hot Mama take relatively short periods of time like twenty minutes tops. Like I say though a lot comes down to skill level as to how long each person takes and which method is used. And by stating what I have I am not denigrating the quality or beauty of any one medium....the end goal is to produce something we like ourselves primarily. If someone else likes it then that is a bonus but time has shown me that one should never rely on download figures for satisfaction or confirmation as to what you do is good. The public changes with the wind and where we, the artists, see mistakes in work, the public is oblivious to it. :congrats 😎 ;)

Just kidding from my side ( I am always amazed with the quality and beauty of some wallpapers here at SB ), but from my side, its very fast to make a wall based on a photograph: see it, capture it,transfer it to the comp, adjust it and...enjoy it. If I have all the equipment together...let´s say...10 minutes? All the best and deep respect to the great wallpaper makers here at Skinbase. πŸ˜‚ |O|

Hey ya Fred:fun I use Apophysis alot. I spend HOURS going through scripts and flames to get my wallpapers how I want them done! As you can clearly see, apophysis takes the personallity of the artist using it!:fool For this reason I use it.:fun Give it a try! See ya on the chatter box:fun

Hello Fred :)

Interesting question which I never really thought about.......
The 3Ds take a lot of time because the proper lighting is very difficult for me.........each of the connection series took me about 10-12 hours playing around, throwing in the bin, start all over again etc. :adminpk . Chaoscope and Apophysis images take a while, too, because I like modifying the parameters to see what comes out.............the randoms often look pretty boring . So like Captain I spend hours on that, too !
The more plain WPs don´t take too long as I often use bin-pics or photos I made and put filter on them..........so it´s really just a bit of clicking until I get something I like. Quite relaxing after a busy day btw ;)
I will work awfully long on montages as it takes me ages to cut objects out and find the right layer style and stuff.........needs a lot of concentration that I don´t always have......
but all in all it depends really .........like Iain said! My passion is 3D but, of course, I´m still an amature with that. Learning by doing....

.

The last one took 5 minutes, the one before it took 51 years... I put it down to a learning curve... 😎

I usually spend many hours creating and fine tuning one of my walls.
Some of them may actually be created rapidly but in the long run I always spend a lot of time tweaking.
😁
