Seems to me if the sole intention of uploading your work is to get "featured" you are uploading for the wrong reason anyway... if you want want public acclaim look around for competetions or challenges to take part in. <br />If you want to ´share´ your work post it on the Base.

I know only too well how easy it is to be misunderstood, misread, misrepresented and misinterpreted. I also know the feeling of being on the end of an action taken in anger. That is life and humans are not perfect. Artur mentioned intelligence. What differentiates people is maturity and those who have it do not run away from adversity and hide. They look upon it as an opportunity to grow. I also recall an admin here commenting on one occasion that running away was a sure sign of telling people you were guilty. I am glad you came back and explained yourself. That took courage. I commend you for that and it shows you are prepared to put effort in to maintaining good relations with people. Best of luck to you and I do hope you come back. Being featured or the manner by which it is done is a tiny part of what this site has to offer. Uploading and downloading comes last compared to the fine relationships with others you can forge. The membership is a good,solid bunch of people. :congrats š ;)

First of all I want to say : Sorry Avy ! I didnĀ“t wanted to say, that your work as itself is a slap in the face, but the way it becomes featured was. And IĀ“d read the other past threads dealing with this topic, but there were some reactions I didnĀ“t wanted to comment. Well as most people here I am very sorry to see you leave, but as Mickeblue said if you are uploading y0ur work only to receive a feature than you are uplaoding for the wrong reason. damn I have been here for years and I couldnt tell you if I have been faeatured or not. Just sometihng I dont put any emphasis on. To me the most important things is that I can make at least one person happy and if that is acheived than it is worth more than any medal that you can recelive..... :Happy
I agree with mickeblue to a certain extent, though I feel that there should be a little more reward to those that upload lots of good quality work in different styles. But I like being at skinbase too much to leave for just that, and I don´t feel underappreciated. <br /> <br />I do agree that if that wall was featured "cause it´s from our buddy", it should have not been featured. It was a good wallpaper though. :)
There is no question your work is of acceptable quality....the work you linked to is also of equal quality. No artist is any better or worse. Each expresses in their own way. An attempt to address the issue of which you speak of was made a few days back and in hindsight was not handle particularly well by all concerned. I am not surprised that you are choosing to leave and this is exactly what I feared would happen with many artists. My feeling was and still is that it would maybe be more beneficial for the site if the features were determined by membership votes. That of course is a suggestion open to site management to consider. All the best to you and you will be missed. :congrats š ;)
I´m glad you are still here Fred!! <br />LevelX, I´m sorry you feel you have to leave SB, even though I don´t know you I wish you all the best at DA. But, please reconsider before you go...... I also was uploading to DA, but I found that at SB you get more comments and suggestions about your works, for me this is great and I have made a lot of friends here. I started a thread last week about the features, unfortunately, it caused a lot of arguments and didn´t get us anywhere and I must apologise to all concerned. LOL
Let me close with this. LevelX- The perception from me is that you did expect a feature with all of your uploads. Your initial post here eluded to that... Now, If I am wrong - I apologize. Regardless - the very best of luck to you. Assuming you come back to read these posts. š
I understand the frustration... BUT... the good here (and my definition of it) outweighs the bad. Nothing or no one is perfect. Ultimately, that is what keeps me here. And YES - I believe Iain is correct - being part of this involves getting to know people here - and a large part of that is through commenting on work. Some don´t think thats the case. I firmly do. I have been part of a process recently stating my concerns about things here. I´m past that now. But one thing I have always done through everything here - is to comment and get involved and get to know people here. Thats a positive thing - and many positive things can come from positive behavior. <br /> <br />I think your decision is a wrong one, as mine would have been to leave here. Your work is here to be shared and seen by others. My advice? Separate yourself from the other stuff here. You know what I mean by that. Focus on the positive here. Your work that you submit is getting downloaded - so its obviously being appreciated. It is wrong to use a feature example as a "last straw" How do you think that makes the featured artist feel? <br /> <br />I congratulate all those who are featured... BUT as far as I go, I do not wish for any of my photos to be featured. I have separated myself from that. Its the concept of sharing that wins over having my photo being on the main page. In the grand scheme of things - that feature concept does not change a thing. As I have already said - what makes a difference to me is making an impact or change in another human being´s life. If somebody contacts me and asks me to use a photo in a work - thats worth a million features. The other point here is that if you want support you need to work at being part of the community...comment on peoples work and get to know people. Posting work is one aspect. I think I have only seen you comment on one or two works in my travels around the site. If you want a better response you need to work at it. You get back from sites like this what you put in. People don´t just flock to our pages because we blessed the site with our presence. We all have made a point of getting ourselves known around the site. I am sorry you have decided to go but as Artur said We can come or go as we please. No-one forces us to stay. DeviantArt is an even bigger and colder site in a lot of ways with a lot of petty squabbles ocurring their all the time. Very clicky and your work gets lost amongst the hefty upload traffic. A lot of people cannot be bothered with the confusing and complicated behemoth of a navigation system they have their so if you could not find happiness here it is very doubtful you will find it there. What interests me is how an upload from Avy who IS a talented artist in her own right, and that is a fact, can possibly be a last straw for you. She has put a lot of time and effort into this site and regardless of how you feel, does not deserve this kind of treatment. Blame yourself if anything, not someone else. Sorry but I just had to say that......it has been a long fortnight for me and I have had a gutsful to be honest.
Artur.....I only have four fingers and a thumb on each hand and ten toes. I do not understand how anyone can count that high if as we are told we are all the same. Twenty is as high as I can get! š š š

There is no perfect site - as I told before - for the purposes we are here and my personal feling is that even so, SB is amongst the most "peaceful" ones. For me...being featured is unimportant....,sharing my work takes precedence.These days I am specific about not wanting my work featured whether it is deemed worthy or not. That is most definitely not why I am here nor why I upload. :congrats š ;)

First I must admit that I am not happy with your departure from SB. I do not like to see people leaving SB. However I must say that probably your assumption that the person opinions that chooses the featured works is biased through friendship or "buddies", is somewhat not correct and distorted Again I think that the problem is that people are here - and elsewhere - with the main goal of being recognized and to see their works featured, than with the main intention of sharing. Of course that anyone considers their own job, better than others. But why would you consider your work subject to have the stamp of " featured Artwork"? You spoke about "quantity" . I can upload 1000 photographs to this site and none of them being featured. I do not assume my work as a "must" to others. My work is a must to me and that´s more than enough. Although I am a member of the staff - for 3 weeks - I do not know what are the premisses or guidelines my colleague - and friend - that is in charge of giving the features do have. But I suppose that is uppon artistic value and of course personal taste. But we all are under the same rule. I understand your point but I do not accept it. I have enjoyed some of your works, but you are free to leave, as anybody else as you were free to join the SB community.Maybe I seem to harsh on you, but make no mistake: I am realistic. SB has its own rules, is administrated by persons, not machines and persons do fail...at least when meetting our own expectations. That´s life, my friend. šŗ
