Nothing like the old classes! And I find a canvas on the wall still more beautiful than any digital work on TV.... :aw
Nature is my passion too!
You must have missed my New York images contractartist... lots of people and emotions there!! Actually, my photography focuses (no pun intended) on nature. I am moved my many things I see, and its those images that I am driven to capture. There is no predicting what I will see either, I just know when I see it to shoot it. People photography is wonderful, too.. I just do not see myself excelling at it. It will never be my specialty.
Well , the only analogue I am going to make is capturing and developing the film, as after that....scanning the film " transforms" the outcome to digital. I am much more excited with the fact that analogue capturing with my Nikolina is a total manual process- no autofocus, no auto metering - the camera is 100% manual everything - and there is no "trial/error" approach: after a capture is made, you cannot delete it. So, its a different experience that I am willing to revive in the next days. Even when I opted to attach one of the prime lens, - no zooming whatsoever -I remenbered what I used to say to people 30 years ago: " If you want to capture a close subject, walk, hike, do whatever you need to do to be close to it...". I was kind of radical, at those times. Now is only for pure fun. And I am going to make one thing I did those times, which is make a multiple exposure with the camera, wich is much fun. I did it only once, back in 1977 with a good result - I will publish it in due course - and I want to make it again...although is considered " manipulated photography"...yes, but manipulated " online " with the camera itself. I am really missing my good old times with Nikolina. I hope she still " recognizes" me. :Happy :fun :fun |O|
Other than touching landscape senery, do you ever try to capture emotions? Sometimes human experience captured, is more meaningful than an undefiled landscape.
I love digital photography. I love the idea of quickly sharing or printing my images right at home with little effort. But where I draw the line is "creating" images at home using fancy software versus going out and seeking and capturing the images that I love.
I will eventually take a course, and if this method is taught - I will prompty withdraw myself. I´ll stick to reading. While I may love the digital error - my heart of hearts is very much old school.
Well, we do understand eachothers. At the end..life tself is also " analogue " , as babies do not born digital . I guess, not...even chicken, Jacob...and eggs :Happy |O| π
From that base Jacob, you learn that nothing in life is perfect. Everything has flaws and those flaws more often than not give character. :congrats π ;)
:brb Mama, where do the eggs from the supermarket come from?
From the chicken son...
What are chicken mama? :in
I completely forgot it existed until ten years ago when I came to the Southern Alps. Everyday I find things in nature that I am in absolute awe of. I have a big assed River..The Clutha.....at the end of my street and when it is full of rain water it is awesome. :congrats π ;) π π π
Way to go Artur... if that speacial touch doesn´´t show up in the viewfinder before the shutter is opened no amount of digital weaking is going to make it magically appear in the finished article.

Your sons teacher probably didn´t respond because she doesn´t even know what you are talking about... I´ve met some "teachers", and I wouldn´t even entrust them with walking my dog.
π π π π Well put Mick :congrats :congrats :congrats
These days with digital cameras you just point and shoot, the camera does the rest. I don´t really call that photography, but until I learn a bit more about all the technical stuff it will have to do. I wish I had taken more notice when my ex was doing photography for a hobby. He even turned my laundry into a dark room. I was living with my now Husband at the time! Good on you Artur....have a ball!!! |O| |O| |O|
Landscape are to me a symbol of hope and piece, and adventure. Photos capturing people expressing emotions is like a window into the soul. A place where time stands still , where people can connect, and relate, and rexperence feelings they may have forgoten. |O| β€οΈ
Jan - I understand your point about point and shoots... But with a Digital SLR - there is a much wider choice of tweaking the camera before the shot is taken. And I admire what Artur is doing here - but in total honesty - I do not have the attention span to take that on... REALLY... I don´t!

But Artur - I do admire what you are doing here!
Ah....is not to admire Fred, is just that I really missed the old fashioned way. Went today with Teresa to the Northeast of Portugal, Nikolina in one hand, the Olympus DSLR of my son in the other...well, was quite amazing - and completely different - to work with both at the same time. I´ll tell you later why, when submitting the different works. One thing is for sure: when showing Teresa the " photo day´s work" on the LCD panel of the Olympus during dinner at a restaurant, at the end she asked me: " Well show me now the ones with Nikolina..." and I said: do you want them developed right now ? She startes to laugh....Well, a great advantage of digitals over the analogues. π |O|
Today digital photography is in but as you say if the trend continues we will lose the true skills of photography.
I believe if anybody truly wants to teach themselves how to photograph learn in Black and White You will quickly learn about light and shadows and train your eye to see what the lens see. And if you get good with Film then go to slides it has allot less tolerance for lighting mistakes. True photography is an art.
