OP
Good question. I noticed not many feature votes being given out so I ´feature this work´ a lot! Well, never know unless you ask. I know ya didn´t ask me, hope ya don´t mind.... |:|

Not much to add here except over the last few days I do not believe enough votes have been cast to boot the current ones off. Your question about a time limit is an interesting one. I´m not sure how that all plays in... :,

You are right Bruno and Fred, our will is good and fair, but sometimes the scripts don´t work as they should...
Gregor will check this problem asap :sen

By the way thanks Fred for your nice comment about Skinbase :Happy

Yes... peace and love to all! One observation I will make is that this system is great because it helps artists work get noticed more as it sits on the main page. My latest voted feature (as with others) are getting downloaded more because they are more visible, when I do not think this would happen otherwise. Its not so much the recognition as it is the idea that people think enough of our work to download it to have it for their own. This system enhances that. I believe that to be a win-win situation for the site as well as members. This was a great idea to implement this. I am one to speak out when I see things wrong, and I am also one to speak when I see things right. Having said that....

:) :congrats :congrats |O| ;)

An application which automatically run scripts in Skinbase each xxx minutes didn´t work as it should those last days, that´s why "the featured works by member votes" have stay for such a long time without change...
We are fixing it now and change the time, from xxx minutes to once a day!

We are going to have a time limit for a "Featured Work by member votes" to stay in the first page: 1 day.
The amount of the last 3 days votes will give the "the featured works by member votes" in the first page.
If some works have the same amount of votes, then the newer will be featured.
The script will be automatic, no administration involvement at all.
We hope that you will find the above :aw system fair for everyone.

I think some of my points are getting confused here. Of course everyone can vote. When it counts. If I really like a work, I will vote to have it featured. However, if it is already featured, what is the point? Maybe I think differently - but I do not vote for features that are already up. This system is a fresh improvement here at SB. It can be even better... to better clarify things for all - perhaps a notation like the ones picked by staff should be attached to those picked by members (featured by skinbase members on such and such date) Once the feature is bounced off - it now has that notation so folks can see it received its deserved feature. Now, returning visitors that wish to vote for it then can see it was featured already. I think it would only help. Once it has that notation it cannot be voted back into that slot. My suggestion is that a 3 day maximum be placed on features on the voted section. Sorry for the long rant.

:Happy
First of all I find it very fair and I agree with what etype2 said: Everybody is entitled to a vote .

What Fred said is an idea, "Once the outcome is reached, further votes are no longer allowed", but we have practical difficulties... Which is the outcome, how many votes make a work featured, how much time needed for the collection of the votes?

I think the solution is to have a time limit of a work staying in the first page, for example 1 day or 2.
As we said the votes which are making a work featured are the "amount of a 3 days votes". After a featured work staying a day or two in the first SB page, will go out and the next newer work with the most votes will go featured in the first page.

We need a clear suggestion that can applied in an automatic script , there should be "no administration involving" in this procedure and must be fair for every one !

We need your clear suggestions! :Happy

How many days you want a "featured work by member votes" to stay in the first page?
We need your answer to this question.

Everybody is entitled to a vote. Maybe some folks can´t visit this site as often because of busy schedules and they vote when they can. If I am gone for a week,I see something I really like,I´m entitled to vote.It is a compliment to you as an artist to receive many votes. Look at it that way.

If the featured works are "stuck" maybe that has to be looked at. :Happy :fun πŸ‘ πŸ‘

You could compare this to voting of any kind. For office or other. The principle is the same for everthing. Votes are cast and there is an outcome that is reached. Once the outcome is reached, further votes are no longer allowed. Can you think of any examples that they are allowed other than here? I doubt it.

Thanks guys for stopping in. I agree Tommy - this is getting comical! πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚

Having said that - I´m gone. :brb :brb :brb :brb :brb

I don´t feel attacked Fred. Rest easy. I´m only saying, this site is visited by the same folks pretty much. If a work gets voted after it´s up I would believe it´s because the persons voting haven´t cast their vote yet. That being said, until all can vote, their votes should count. Now, if you feel a time limit would help matters then that’s up to the admins. I for one have cast ´feature this work´ a lot lately, anyone that goes to that page and wants to vote should. Collectively a feature ´by the members´ is posted. Until everyone casts a vote on one work the current ones stand. Hell, there are three spots up there. I don´t see what this has in common with voting someone in office. If I don´t make it here for a day and someone has their work votes ´cut off´ is it fair I can´t cast a vote if I really like the works? This is my last post on this, it´s getting too comical, and I love me some comedy so this is bad shit. Peace and I´m outtie ;)

I have explained well the case Richard with a personal message, I guess you didn´t noticed it or you didn´t received it.
Please read well what it says in the announcement of this new feature here: http://www.skinbase.org/news.php?topicid=1282
With a few words it is AUTOMATIC!

If you have any good idea about it, Richard or Fred or any other SB member , please tell us.

Well, it seems that two of the ones up now are up to seven votes each. Who is voting for these to be featured, when they already are featured? I find that odd. So what does that mean, a new one has to get seven votes to overtake these? I witnessed mine overtaking and then being overtaken itself the other day. Again, very odd. Once a piece is overtaken it should be locked out from being featured again. It had its feature already. Another thing - once a piece is in the voted feature slot - the option for voting should now be disabled. That would eliminate the suspected "bumping" going on now. I don´t know about how things are in your end of the world, but here - once we elect officials to an office we do not continue to cast votes for them after the election is over! The same principle should apply here. That would be a start. You anted ideas, there are two good ones to promote fairness. Have a great day. :D

All this makes me want to ´delete´ my ´Grape Twizzler´ to free up a spot and put an end to all this! It would appear all who vote do it ´collectively´ towards a feature´ piece. Until one is uploaded to ´suit´ voters, and compells them to cast their votes the ones voted up remain. If you want a time limit imposed, that would be fine too. Jesus, we all put up great work here, this needs to stop!

As it stands now - this is the equivalent of keeping the voting booths open after the deadline for the casting the votes has passed. I have witnessed two of the works up now receiving two additional votes each - after they have been featured. The votes that won them the original feature are the only ones that should be counted. Not the ones coming in after the fact. Like I stated above - the option for voting should be disabled after the feature has been awarded. When this system first started - we saw a large turnover in the slots which was refreshing to see. Now, the same 3 are up for what? Almost a week now? I´ve said enough. I think if you do these two things that I talked to here, the system will work better. Thank you. :brb

Tommy all I am talking about is a little common sense and fairness. Nikos asked for suggestions and I gave two. I am not singling out your work or any other. I am talking to a situation. The same as if mine were still up now and being voted on.

Just so we are on the same page... I am not referring to votes that are cast toward a feature Tommy. I am well aware how this works. I am speaking to the votes that are coming in after the fact and are being added. It makes no sense to me to cast a vote "feature this work" when the work is already up as a feature. It defies logic. If other works have since gotten a decent amount of votes (one by Contractartist today received 4 feature votes) they could be left out if the votes added to already featured works are counted and somehow are extending the featured piece time slot. I am only speaking about fairness to ALL. Not only to Fred, not only to Tommy... to ALL of us. Your work was featured with I believe 5 votes. Those are the 5 that should count. I´d say the same thing for any of my work as well. Common sense. if that is taken the wrong way, that is not the intention. I want my points to be clear. Be well. :Happy ;)

This is an Administrative question to the Administrative team.

I do not want to be misconstrued so I will say this as simply and plain as I possible can. I have noticed wallpapers or photos or for that matter a W/B stay in the members voted area for more than one day if no other works match or beat the number of votes. Today I have noticed works up with less than and are up.?? How come??

The automatic script calculates the featured votes received the last 3 days and put the one with the most votes in each category in the first page. If 2 works have equal number of votes, then the newer goes to first page.
DonΒ΄t forget it is AUTOMATIC script and NO ONE can interfere with it! ;)

I am aware of what you have mentioned above which is exactly why I have brought this to your attention. My last upload was on the 2nd and has 4 votes. It was replaced with another upload on the same day with 3 votes. There in lies the problem with your script. That is all I am pointing out, no hard feelings, just that it is not correct is all. :fun

Fred-I had one up on the 2nd, another person had one up on the 2nd. Mine had 4 votes, the other persons had 3 votes. Mine was up for a day. The next day the other persons was up, still with 3 votes. Not more than 4, one less, 3. My point is, they were both up on the same day. One with 4 and one with 3. The next day the one with 3 goes up. That makes sense to you? I´m not hardened, just wanted to point it out, it´s not correct scripting. Whatever. }:(
