Even though I use/love the Nvidia cards I must admit that the Radeon cards are better, but since I
only have bad experinces with and hate any ATI card I wouldn´t dream of buying one!

And while we´re speaking of the impossible, check out this baby: http://www.geek.com/htbc/glanin.htm
I wouldn´t mind having one of those to play Space Invaders on ;)
:snow

If you needed a gaming card I´d go with the GeForce but, for art I´d go with the ATI.

Every drafting and surveying house I´ve been in uses ATI cards. My tech college used ATI´s and I´m on a Rage 128 here.

I have a GeForce DDR on my XP machine and some of my WP´s show a big difference in appearance on that machine from their appearance on this one.

ups... forgot to mention that my card is a GeForce 3 TI200 w/64 DDR, but that still doesn´t make it better than the Radeon8500 card!! :(
:snow

Hey SNOWman ... I kinda like the QUAD monitor support idea I could be running 4 Photoshop layers all at once! Well, maybe a year ago (Way ahead in my stock market stuff)

hm... if you want a card for gaming i would recommand the geforce series.
if you are into 3D graphics. i would highly recommand you a 3DLabs Oxygen or Elsa GLoria II or III. i have a ELSA GLoria II it runs extremely fast on rendering 3D graphics, unfortunately it sucx so bad in games.
but if you are only concern on working for 2D graphics i would recommand you to get at least 1 gig of ram. :)

asoza

Hey Sed, not good to hear when somebody loses their work, that sucks!

And also listen to ahdont, for 2D (photoshop) work get lots of RAM, large hardrive for your scratch disk and a fast processor.

Snowman that geek setup has gone out to my whole address book I told all those friends you and I are goin´ in on it ... (Just kidding about THAT part) Blowin people away though... OK, HERE, I found the elsa card "ahdont" spoke of. ELSA Synergy 2000 AND $169 DOESN´T mention GAMES cuz to me I design OTHER things , Then a PINE GeForce3Ti500 $399
Then a PINE GeForce ti 200 $189 all sound good. THEN IF ANYONE HAS PROS OR CONS ON THIS TELL ME: This "SOUNDS" right BUT , ANYONE HAVE ONE?..... A ELSA SYNERGY III SAYS THIS: based on NVIDIA Quadro2 MXR workstation graphics processor, super high rez displays , for professional graphics and graphics and video users... $349 WELL???
The GeForceTI500 talks too much "GAME" .. The TI200 DOES talk alot of higher rez and better anti-aliasing. Maybe I´ll stay in the $189 range instead of the $350 range OR IN THE LONG RUN??? STILL ON THE SUBJECT OF JUST THE RIGHT MACHINE for ..... US HERE !!!
