I think what is great about photography is the presentation of an object, thing, person, place in a new, unique, beautiful way. Great photographers see things, casual observers miss in life. Do you still have that photo? :Happy
I found a site called Caedes.net. It was my first real exposure to digital art. I must have downloaded 4 or 5 gigs of wallpapers. They seemed to be having so much fun, that I wanted to try. My first venture was terragen because I didn´t have the money to buy (still don´t) and it was free. I was never very good at it but I liked messing with it. I also tried tierazon and ultra fractal. One day while surfing the net, I found Apophysis and fell in love. Not very good at it but I love it. I left Caedes about a year after I started. To many flame wars and too much drama. Found Skinbase and been here ever since.

Sorry I got carried away. Me and my mouth. ❤️

I knew Grimspoon. He ran his own site where he started the idea of selling your artwork before many other sites. I agree, Nikos is one of the very best!

Just dusted off Bryce again.

[wallz=54442] :Happy

On a crisp Fall day, I turned at saw an old "antique" wheel with its reflection in a puddle. I took a picture of it. I don´t think I ever looked at anything the same way again. That single capture elevated me somehow...

For me, a very inspiring moment.

Having been ill for a very long time and thus not being able to work, it was more an act of despair for me. I had lots of time and - apart from being a mum and housewife and reading a lot - nothing useful to do. On one day I talked to a lady from Berlin on the telephone who I met through the internet.

She had a program called Vue d´esprit 4, but no interest to use it, because she was more interested in photography and composing. She sent it to me and also introduced the fotocommunity to me, where she was showing her works. I loved the program, and I loved the community. That was how it all started........in 2004. Then I discovered Apophysis and got addicted to that. Then came photography which I am now beginning to take very much pleasure in. But it definitely all started with my friend Cleo from Berlin! :Happy ❤️ (That was a very short version of the whole story! LOL )

A wonderful topic, Marshall! ❤️
It makes me appreciate certain things again I had almost forgotten about.

kchristine, I cannot agree with parts of your posting!
I am one of the folks Marshall mentioned and think you´re doing some beautiful images!

Royo is not bad...thing that got me hooked on Roger Dean was he did a mechanical warrior on a mechanical horse in tonings of red...all hydraulic hoses and pistons and rods...the detail was gobsmacking! :)
