Elwin you need to make a skin will so everyone will know what to do w/ your skins...

you know like we could honor your wishes and put them on a zip disk and bury them w/ you? or creamation is also another option and then scatter your skins in the ocean even! =)
Listen to /BruB: and always remember that some days you are the bug, and some days you are the windshield.....:-) Keep in mind that rainy days help the flowers. If you give a fisherman a boat he will sit in it all day and drink beer!!!! A wasted day is one in which you don´t laugh... :) :)
´Oh Lighten Up´ - One of my favourite skin suites actually :)

It is a good subject actually though. I know my family wouldn´t know what to do with my skins (or even where all of them are!)
Sooo Elwin which one of us will you put as your skin beneficiary???
Pick me! Pick me! =)
I might name the dutchy as mine, (just to torture and haunt him) hehe
actually this is something to think about, cuz Dredwerk´s Dad came over to LOS recently and I told him that it´s so neat that his son´s skins are still be enjoyed by ppl today even though he is not here w/ us anymore...

my skins are soooo outdated they need to be flushed but I´m too lazy to pull them down and flush em, but then again maybe someday they´ll be considered antiques and worth alot!
Truthfully, the spark that set this whole thing off was remembering a skinning pioneer from long ago named MorpheusX.
(and a bit of trivia - he took that name before ´The Matrix´ ever hit the theatres... :D )
Some of you old timers will know who I´m talking about.
He was probably the most well respected, if not most revered, skinner to ever hit the Litestep scene.
He had released some of the most innovative themes people had seen - themes that didn´t play by the then current rules of theming.
And he was in the process of releasing one of the most eye boggling techno themes you had ever seen by the name of ´Borg´. He had already released a Windowblinds skin, and was just weeks away from the final release. He had skinners like Mercury and Dangeruss ready to release ports of his work. (Mercury DID release a WB variation of it by the name of ´Assimilated´). That shows you the appeal he had. :)
Anyway, approximately 2 weeks before the big day, he disappeared off the face of the earth.

I´ve never been able to find anyone that has a real clue as to what happened to him.
And frankly, I doubt that anything short of his passing would have stopped him from it´s release.
He enjoyed sharing his work too much to stop in ´mid stride´, so to speak...

Well, I´m no MorpheusX (by more than a bit), but I thought to myself: ´Hey what would keep some jackass from just grabbing my stuff and doing what they will?´
Ain´t nobody but my adoring fans ( :P ) to keep the grave robbers away.
So this was simply a hypothetical question with you all as a sounding board, more than anything else.

But again - If you care about your work, you wonder what will become of it... :)
And no, Dor you can´t have ´em. You´d trade them for some magic beans, or something... {:p
Tho´ that crack about cremating does remind me of MY last wishes. I want to be cremated. Then my ashes can be mixed with vinegar and water and ...
Well, you´ll just have to wait for the funeral for the rest of the details.
:P
oh really you think I´d let em go jusss for magic beans? I play hard ball better then that baybee.... hehe

but this is interesting cuz when you see someone active and they suddenly vanish you do wonder what happened, like you mentioned about MorpheusX (but I don´t remember him)

Though getting back on topic about the skins left behind well you should know better by now the only "true" security is "not" to upload anything you´re too concerned about cuz once they hit the net well there is NO guarantee for anything at anytime dead or alive...
When /me dies his mailbox will be flooded by a certain coffee cup, until the emails start to bounce. Then she´ll know.

The fool is dead? Hallelujah!!
hmmm single hey :-) No children? When I get depressed I think the same about my son´s Memorial page :-( Maybe you could make a will or even make your own site for all your skins so all can still enyoy them and jusy will some monies to pay yearly for the expenses of the site? Just some thing that has ran through my head now and then......... but keep in mind all that have seen your skins and even use them, your skins will never die in the minds of skinners :-) If all ideas fails Elwin, you can put them up on /chichigirl46: site :-)
Hallelujah??? *shiver* be quiet dutchy cuz I cannot even stand the mere thought of a msg board w/o "you" no longer on it...

listen to chichigirl =)
nice to know our skins may be around for a while even when we´re not
well one thing I know for sures though I may not ever get the time to get my real skin over to Italy, I do know for a fact that my digital skins are all over Italy (according to some e-mails I rec´d) that makes me happy!

Elwin you should consider writing an article for Teknidermy about this!
I mean think about it, us die hards that are still around, know from past experience that we´ve seen ppl get upset and remove their work when leaving a site, I remember when Dangeruss left skinz.org and when he returned re-uping that hugh load of skinz again... hehe

well the same holds true that if some feel that strongly about when they leave taking their work down, this really "Should" be given some serious thought for some ppl right? Elwin made a good point. Passwords needs to be left and stuff etc.
I don´t know that my family would continue any of my sites after I´m dead. Not unless I can convert my children into skin freaks when they are older (and allowed to touch my PC ;))

But I don´t know what I´d want to happen to my skins at that stage. Leave them on my site only? Leave them on the skin archive sites? It´s a tough question.
And does it matter? You´re gone then, aren´t you.
I look at it this way.....What we leave behind is not as important, as how we lived. That is the true legacy.... So /Elwin: you the "skinner" will be remembered long after your skins are out-dated..... Just a thought... :) :)
