Been thinking about a New contest

Well this wall paper jockey has yet to complete a windowBlind skin but I´m getting closer by the day...The contest sounds interesting and a contest is always something that raises my brow...Now although I said I have yet to complete my winblind skin from that competetion before....I did come up with few exciting skin designs while "attempting" to skin certain appz....So after all that....I just wanted to say....WOW A CONTEST!....Coool...I´m in...

sri to stray away from the topic here...but quick question for Canon... <BR> <BR>CANON: I designed a few skinz for serenade when if first came out a few yrs ago..since then, there have been a few upgrades...Um is it any better now? It was always unstable on my machine, that&acute;s why I stopped using it....anyhow....you can click on my little icon and drop me a comment if you choose to reply...(as to not clutther this page with non related convo)....bugzOut

i&acute;d certainly be interested in a freeware-only skinning contest, in fact i&acute;ve made 2 suites of freeware skinnable apps that i use, i think at least one of them is posted under the serenade section of the dekstop shells

ok ok ok, really I&acute;m with bugz and /BruB: LOS never came across with the T-Shirts they promissed........ I think the best and coolest idea is a Skinbase.org T-SHIRT on one side and the other side says &quot;freeware skinning&quot; /Elwin: but I guess I could go buy one my self @ the mall........... I&acute;m not puting any ideas on the message boards any where any more, it seems others have put my ideas I have put out there into action.... and couldn&acute;t even say thanks! <BR> <BR>This is really hard, maybe you don&acute;t have to make the prizes freeware just because the contest is skinning freeware?

But that&acute;s so tiny....It would how ever be cool to have a skinbase case badge contest (after this one of course)...I mean how many skin sites have a case badge? I&acute;d love to see this. Entrants allowed to skin any (and many) freeware aplications they choose and when they are done they submit the files and a screenshot of all skins together. A complete theme/suite of freeware skinnables. <BR> <BR>No restriction to what you want to skin. Skin what you want, made by whoever you want. <BR> <BR>I&acute;d watch that with <b>great</b> interest if that was the plan :) <BR> <BR>Heck - it&acute;s made me feel like skinning now!

Would the most appz skinned be a section? <BR>Most creative skinbase suite? ( cus that would be cool dammit) <BR>What would be the minimum for appz skinned to qualify? <BR>and would you judge based on that? <BR> <BR>so many questions, so little time...

Just thinking out loud here: <BR>Well, the LiteSteppers will certainly have an advantage over others when it comes to a radical desktop change, so maybe there ought to be 2 distinct catagories, with special consideration given to those who build a theme with just a Wall and the skinnable apps they want to use to give their theme flesh... <BR> <BR>And Bugz - don&acute;t worry - plenty of time for you to brain-storm. This make take a bit to jell. (And since WB is a commercial app, it wouldn&acute;t be in the running anyway... {:p )

Elwin I like where you&acute;re going with this....and I&acute;m licking my chops...now some more questions for ya... <BR> <BR>Would it be possible to provide a page on skinbase that would seperate the free skinnable appz from the not so free skinnable appz, and also the easiet from the more complexed via maybe an Icon with a text link to the download site? I ask because I&acute;d really like to develop a few suites...and I don&acute;t want them to be too time consuming, plus I sure a lot of us would like a head start....or in my case a running head start... <BR> <BR>Fault me if some of this does exsist..I&acute;ve been away for a while...

Hrm, this sounds like something that could trigger me. Don&acute;t create seperate categories, just lay it down as simple as can, and take the effort put in as a measure (it&acute;s easier to put down a complete, working environment with LS, not easier to create the theme as is, I think). <BR> <BR>bugzlitey, maybe the application lists at skinnables.org do what you want, no shareware there.

Well Chichi, I think that will be up to you. I&acute;ve seem some very simple &quot;themes&quot; based on just a few apps. Sometimes the KIS (Keep It Simple) principal works well...

Oops. <BR>And to answer your other question - Yes. <BR>Everyone makes his/her own. <BR> <BR>And as an example, look at what I did with Red Letter Edition. <BR>I could have made fewer or more app skins, but those are the apps that I run the most. (Well, except for Eppie. I just did that to see if it would get along with eFX - that and I had never done an Eppie skin before...) <BR>:)

If I can find the time to skin, I&acute;ld join up. Time is really hard for me though. ^.^;

But I have been looking for a freeware clock that is designed low in height and long from Left/screen to end of R/screen, like what they call a ticker clock with the date, time, and maybe some drop down menus like WXP Hewlett Packard&acute;s ticker bar, I love the bar it sits on top of the desktop but not interest in what HP offers on it.........? I could add that to my suite of yahoo messengers :-)
