The Skinning Community contains people of many races, ages, and locations. Therefore we can´t expect every single one to have the exact same tast or opinion in any matter, but I do agree with you BruB that on certain site some of the comments that are given appear like they were given out of pure stupidity. <BR> <BR>But I would like to reflect <b><u>my</u></b> opinion on the different sites in the Community: <BR> <BR><b>Deskmod</b>: <BR>I really don´t know what my opinion is about this site.... Some say that it´s the less mature site, only giving crap ratings/comments. I have been presented to these ratings/comments but that was on the "old" Deskmod. <BR>All in all a great site <BR> <BR><b>DevArt</b>: <BR>Too big for it´s own good..... I see their forum much like a shoppingcenter with only one big noticeboard - if you post your message here, it´s pure luck if anyone ever notice it, unless it´s "big" and rude. Getting the work you make and upload noticed is an art in itself. I believe that only the ones that look for <b>your</b> style notice it. <BR><b>NOT</b> a site for newbies!! <BR> <BR><b>LOS</b>: <BR>Hehe... I still see LOS as everyones lill baby. Cute and cuddley ;) Not any stupid coments on the submission or on the forum/shoutbox. Newbies are welcomed with open arms and are given any help, if they need it. <BR> <BR><b>Customize</b>: <BR>This is the site where all the stupid, immature, stupid, so-called-masters-of-art and just plain dumb people will figure! Once Custo was <i>the</i> site to be one, well not anymore. Custo IMHO have sunk to the ultimate low and I do not believe they will be able shake the of their back unless they do some really hard work and start kicking some of the real badies of the site!! <BR>Hard words maybe, but I think some will agree with me. <BR> <BR> <BR><b>Skinz</b> <BR>Well once Skinz was "my home" on the Net. Skinz was the site that brought up many of the great masters of skinning that we meet on our journey through The Community today like Dangeruss, Hippy and Treetog. But Skinz was "killed" by eFront and to me the site is still dead, eventhough it was "revived". But sheesh... it´s not even worthy of the title Skinz.org anymore. Rest in peace Skinz.org, gone but not forgotten! <BR> <BR><b>WinCustomize</b>: <BR>This is the site for the more mature audience. They have a very effective moderation system. OK small glitches have occoured but they have been delt with swiftly. Again I do not feel that this is the site that a newbie skinner will get the attention which would be needed. This is the site where all the "big guns" appear and show off their master pieces before they move on to other sites. <BR> <BR><b>VelocityArt</b>: <BR>The latest addition to The Community. They have settled down very well in one of the more quiet corners of The Community, but they have been accepted very well! Exept from a couple of lameassed nuttheads the forum have been keep "clean" so far :) <BR> <BR><b>Skinbase</b> <BR>I feel that Skinbase is one of the most overseen sites in the Community. We have every skinsections you can ever imagine, yet we only have just over 5.000 submissions most of´em are in the wallpaper section. <BR>Skinbase is a site for everyone, good or bad. I have the feeling that we see everyone "as equals". For the that I have been an admin here I cannot remember that we ever have had to "raise our voices" to any member yet. <BR> <BR>-------------------------- <BR> <BR>Well folks that completes the lesson for today. I think the BOOK that Snowman wrote sums it up and I´m only posting to three sites cuz of some of the dumb admin comments and secondly the difference in people and tastes does not constitute any nasty critisism (SP?) My popularity standinding in foreign lands makes me smile. I started on-------- ! and my feelings couldn´t take the hurt with all the time I wasted getting FEATURED SKINS of other sites moderated away. Where and who are these X-SPURTS? I just agree with SNOWMAN, That´s all. (Except I am a proud Basehead and a proud Deviant........ Velocity also WILL become HUGE..... in my opinion, also )
i don´t think the style craeonics describes would get good ratings at Customize.org. as horrible the crowd is, there is a high level of style there and there is respect for artists´ rights, unlike WinCustomize where the crowd uploads rips into the DesktopX zoomer section nearly faster as the moderators can delete it. <BR> <BR>Brub, if even you think this artwork is nusable as wallpaper, do not expect high ratings for it. wallpapers really need moderation, just look at DeviantArt and you see what happens if everything is accepted. i don´t even browse the wallpaper sections at skin sites anymore, since 99% of the stuff is plain boring. there are plenty of excellent wallpapers on the web but i prefer to start at a site as linkdup to find the stuff that excites me. of course this is only personal taste.

wooHoo....my winblind got over 4000 downloads on wincustomiz.org ...Does that make me a bigGun? (seemed to get a little more respect after I cursed out the negative people in the comment area... lol).... <BR> <BR>And brub....a couple of weeks ago, I had pretty much the same thought win I uploaded my first blind (if you can remember)....But if you total all the downloads from the sites I´ve submitted to, I´m at about 10,000.....I get bitter when I get negative comments or no comments...And I often feel cheated when I introduce something original to the community and I don´t even get an honorable mention...What about me? ...I too am tired of the same skins over and over taking the spotlight over pure creativity and real art...But not every thing in this world was meant to be my way....so I just drive on....I know I´ll never be as popular as an adni18 or aleksandr (who´s styles I absolutely envy) but it´s still fun to skin and still worth the submission to certain sites.... <BR> <BR>I wish I could boycott sites like customize.org, bugzOut

But I´ve been around and back in the last 2 years or so. <BR> <BR>I guess I´ll stay away from places like Custo and WC. I´m not in it for the commens or the downloads. I´m in it so people can see my style, my art, my work. If you like it say so, if you don´t, just past straight thru. Words are hard some time. I never likes Picasso, but yet is an artist. I´m a fan of Warhol, but is he an artist? it´s all a question of taste I guess. thanks for your morale booster guys.
I think snow covered flavors of the different sites pretty good in his book up there! hehe <BR> <BR>as far as ppl getting alittle upset over the comments left on their work that they upload to the various sites welllll... my two cents issss... <BR>1.<b>Only</b> upload to the site you hang out on most and feel the most confortable (but that may not solve the prob as there is and always will be ppl that will take the time to post a <b>you suck</b> comment even on your favorite site so you will enventually get one no matter where & what. <BR> <BR>2. Upload everywhere w/ the intension that you made it to share it w/ everyone <b>including</b> the nuts and overlook the stuff that would normally bother you w/ the attitude that you expect a few ppl not to think the same as you. <BR>
ahem......If you can´t take negative comments, I suggest you cease to upload anywhere comments are allowed. I understand the frustration, I´ve had my share of ´you suck´ type comments and skins that are simply ignored. (Grow a thicker skin and move on.) <BR>Your comment of if you like it so, if you don´t just pass straight thru is unrealistic. You have to take the good and the bad. And if you´re uploading to a wallpaper section, it doesn´t matter if you meant it as art, the work will generally be judged as a wallpaper. <BR>I´m not trying to rag on you Brub, this is just my take on the subject. :)
Good comments Koa. I know what you mean. No hard feeling. But What I meant is there is a diference between "You skuck" and "It´s not good because....." Tell me why you don´t like it, then it´s constructive critisism. <BR> <BR>But you´re right, I´m not new to this and had my share of stupid comments. Looking at it now, a few days later, It´s because I liked that piece alot and I took it personnal. I should start doing Glass and metal skin....anyway.
