Hmmm...Although I started out with PSP, Adobe Photoshop has become my magic wand and I don´t know of too many others because I´ve been using photoshop for about 8 yrs now....I also like Macromedia products....For 3d, theres Simply3d, Rhino, 3d studio max, Mya and a bunch of others.... Filters...ah...I have over a hundred...but I don´t use them as much as I used to...I doubt this helps with anything...bugOut

I use PSP 7 for just about everything I do, occasionally for walls, I´ll use Painter Classic and then PSP. My favorite plugin has to be EC4000. Ulead PhotoImpact6 has some cool tools, but lacks layers, so I don´t use it much.

I use PhotoShop for all of my graphics stuff. The two things that I use all of the time in it are the layer effects (drop shadow, bevel, etc.) and layer mixing options (multiply, screen, overlay etc.). The best part about the layer effects is that they are dynamic. So, once you´ve applied them you can change them later to your hearts content. You can´t do that with lighting effects. You can also temporarily disable parts of the stacked effects, or all of it in one click. As far as the mixing options go, I generally have a boatload of layers and use those a lot to get the desired effect. I´m sure someone else could get the same effect in one layer, but I usually use several.

The only plugin that I use on a somewhat regular basis is KPT5. The Shape Shifter alone is worth the price of the whole package.

I have to add my voice to the crowd and praise Photoshop but, I also use The Gimp...it has some dymanic lighting, animation, transparency and glass effects that I haven´t found in any other program.

I would like to think everyone that has replied so far. It will be a while before I can afford any of these great programs, but I do look forward to getting some of them. As it stands right now, PSP7 and Xara3D4 are my two favorite programs. However, I havn´t had bryse for very long. It has kept me up all night on several occasions just playing with it. It is fairly easy to learn, and the tutorials for it are on just about every graphics site you can think of. I havn´t figured out the animation part yet, but I´m working on it.

Thanks again for replying, and keep it up.

-KricKit-

I´ve used GIMP for Windows a few times. It´s a great alternative or option for those on a limited budget.

GIMP for windows is indeed a nice alternative (not 100% if you are used to photoshop i heard). If you have any problems using it you can mail the author and he answers very fast (or try the mailing list). (its 2 yrs ago that i used it, so maybe this information isn´t ok anymore.

Bryce is an excellent, powerful, innovative piece of software. Sure, it doesn´t have the boring, standard, windows-esque interface, but would you want it to? (hint: no). I love the texture generator!
