interesting topic. I think we really could share those informations
Registry spy on ezpop?!
Care to explain that a bit further?!

I find it highly unlikely that Thibster made any kind of "spyware" application!!
i just tell what the scanner i´m using is saying. The used spyware is the eZula type and was found in EzPop. Further info i cannot give because the scanner removed it all.
Hmm... I´d better have a lill talk with Thibaud about this!
Hear hear!! All the software on my site is officially not shipped with SpyWare!!! ;-)
Latest version of ad-aware, no sign of ezula in EzPop (latest version too), nor did I find it with online scanners. It´s a mail program, hence connects and receives your regular spam. Spyware tools can easily consider that the result of EzPop itself, while it isn´t the cause. Scanners mistake, that´s why the initial spyware site had "suspects" before concvictions were handed out... If you cannot give real info, don´t hand out accusations too easily. That is, if there´s no facts to back it up.
I´d say it´s like plastic said.
i use, among others, also the latest ad-adware 5.83. However, its possible that the scanner mixed things up, so if i was too quick by telling, then i´m sorry.
Nevertheless; i think its a good idea to tell about this if some spyware is found.
Huh ? What´s that, a joke ?
EzPop doesn´t contain ANY SPYWARE inside. It´s a full freeware and doesn´t send any of your private informations to a "secret" website.
Previous versions of EzPop were including a News features so EzPop was connecting to the Glabouni.com website in order to get the server list, then read the news themselves. This feature has been removed (since it´s now replaced by HoverNews).

The only things EzPop is sending are your login/pass to your POP servers in order to connect to your mail server and notify you about your awaiting messages. That´s all, nothing more.

AronL, I´m curious to understand how Ad-aware could find any kind of spyware inside !
If checking messages is now considered as spyware, then Oultook, Eudora, Netscape etc... should be spyware as well =]
EzPop has been recently featured on TechTV and I would be suprised they would have done that if it was including a spyware.

Btw, a new release of EzPop will be ready very soon with more protocol support (IMAP4 / MAPI) and some great new features and still ... spyware free !

Thanks for clearing that up. I look forward to the new version too :)
What spyware scanner did you use? This should be made aware to them. This a serious bug in the app... that or they are anti-EzPop. :P Anyway, I´ld like to try this scanner out for myself, and see what happens. I´ve run ad-aware before, so I know it ain´t that.

Got a link?
Possibly heuristic scanning, akin to how some virus scanners do it. Meaning that it searches for code that could be spyware, but would not necessarily be so.
Yup, a lot of times a positive just means that you should investigate further - not that it´s really a problem.
A NEW EZPOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cool!
