hrm, no reg entries huh? :( You could always reformat and reinstall windows xp :P
/Snowman: don´t be shy now, come over anytime, I like serving my neighbors snow cones LOL
Oh, did you ever get it fixed?
Sounds kinky, chichi. :evil
:snow makes notes: never visit chichi! ;) ;) (j/k)
I never said life was easy.... but it can be painful at times.. :) However life with chichi is NEVER dull... lol lol
Oh my my my....... ROTFL is that a big blooper LOL now I need a glass of :sangria to have an excuse to hide my red face :-)
That tape sounds painful to me... RUN Hob!! RUN!!!! ;)
What kind of tape was that again?
:o
Temporaly I put a small piece of dick tape on my monitor, so I don´t see it...... but when reading comments, it makes all you baseheads sound like your drunk LOL

You say formatt LOL over an icon, when it´s preinstalled WXP, then I´ll be seeing douple icons LOL
chichi, if it´s a shortcut in the program/start menu the shortcut-file can be located in:
c:\windows\startmenu\ (or where ever you might have installed Windows)
If it by any chance isn´t any shortcut-file by that name in that folder, it might be as pogz suggested, hiding in the registry.
(Remember to backup the registry first, if you start tampering with it!!!)
It came with the computer, WXP pre- installed :-) why do they have to be so stubborn on an icon of their´s
I had that sort of problem when I installed my scanner (also HP). I removed the whole thing and reloaded the software using only the required stuff to make it work. The rest I left off.

I don´t know if that will work for you.
I have been searching for three weeks and have found zero info :-( Thanks pogrelz
ick, evil HP people are going to make it hard, eh? I´ll go over to the msdn and see if they have any articles on adding buttons so working backwards will be easier. :)
oh when you right click on the start button and go to properties and click the button t6o customize, it is not listed in that check box area for adding or removing icons :-(
It does nothing...... it won´t let you click on the change icon button in properties......
have you tried clicking on the startmenu, choosing properties, customize, advanced tab, and is there an item in that list box? It might be there but you might have already tried that ;).
I have WXP and it´s in the start-menu on the right side menu just above the logon and logoff buttons :-( That´s Hewlett Packard for you LOL It´s not a short cut, it acts as a permanent fixture, but there has to be away! I appreciate any help, it´s UGLY :-( and useless......... thanks you guys, i´ll check out the registry, just poke around and not touch anything, just like window shopping :-)
ChiChi, you´ve got Pogz involve. he will find your answer :)
err... the folder I mentioned is of course if you´re using Win98
