Oh! Turtorial! Get to it Elwin. I haven´t checked ShellWM out yet, but I will. Can the window border images be any size? (i.e. not limited like StyleXP)
aw shot.... let´s try the last part of the last line again: <br />"I´m the alien around here 🌙 <---- see?! LOL" <br /> <br />hehe ;)
Sounds good hob!! Looking forward to hopefully seeing it here on Skinbase :D <br /> <br />Oh and for your information.... I´m the alien around here 🌙 <---- see?! LOL
I am working on a skin right now.... Do you believe that..... Chichi is taking me through the steps very slowly.. bacause we are still bumping off walls as we go along by the way MY SKIN is, lets just say I´m different... (I am really an Alien) Look to the North star and count 5 to the left... That´s Me... Sorry for you guys that live down and under.... lol
BruB: prove it to me. <br />Where´s that skin? <br />{:p
Tutorials rule - bring it on :)
You could easyly do your Tutorial, I think it would be a welcome addition.
Not a problem - other people made that same assumption... :) <br /> <br />Well, understand that it´s a Beta, so things can really change as they continue development. But right now, it´s pulling about 2 megs of my system memory. <br />And I can live with that... <br />{:p
OHHH! *feels dumb* I misread it on the sourceforge page. "Windows skinning application to be used with a Win32 Shell replacement (like Litestep, geOshell, sharpE, etc.)" <br /> <br />I musta read it to quickly and read the "with" as "as"... <br /> <br />Well now that I´ve made a fool of myself hopefully this question won´t make me look even more dumb :) <br /> <br />How is it on resources? Is it a fat little resource piggy like windows blinds, or is it barely noticiable performance wise?
Travelian: That´s not a fair question. :) <br />In spite of the name, it´s NOT a shell replacement. <br />It´s a windows skinner like eFX or Windowblinds... <br />{:p
How is ShellWM desktop wise? I mean comparing to Talisman, Litestep, and Aston. Does it offer the drag and drop capabilities of Explorer? That seems to be the thing that most shell replacements seem to lack and why I don´t use them.
Oh, and would anyone be interested in an illustrated skinning tutorial on ShellWM? <br />After Emailing with BruB and Chichi, I´m curious if there´s an interest. <br /> }:?
Sure I would be interested and probably many others would be too..... When will you have it done /Elwin: LOL That is a great idea, if you want help just yell, I would be gladly to help :-)
No, it hasn´t. You´re stuck with it for life! <br /> <br />Alright, that might not have been completely true.
I ran into one small problem with two buttons, max/min on a small window only, shows those two buttons as inactive instead of being the active window button..... On the max/size windows all the buttons show up as active. Is it /me or a small bug? Is there any info on skinning the buttons that have 10 buttons on a bitmap as to what each do? That would be helpful :-) Otherwise my skin is done :-)
oh, and thanks scarebear for the link I´ll check it out........ and thanks Elwin :-)
I think it comes with a readme in html format. If you scroll down to the very bottom of it, I think you´ll find an explanation of what part of the bitmaps corresponds to what state of the button.
Chichi: I emailed you with this last, but just in case, here it is again: <br /> <br />I´ve been playing with different skins to see if I can find the same thing you´re talking about. <br />I THINK, (and I say think, cause I´m not sure,) that it may have something to do with the original width of the graphic you use for the TOP image. <br />That is, if you are using a small graphic with stretching or tile, it will allow it to shrink to it´s smallest size. <br />BUT, since it IS so small, it doesn´t allow space for all of the buttons that you have on the window. <br />And so then they TRY to overlap, and get confused. <br /> <br />Does that make sense? <br />Do you think it may be the answer? <br /> <br />I´m just guessing here... <br /> <br />{:p <br />
I must be tryine to overlap because i´m confuse :D
The buttons are not over lapping in the smallest window, it changes the color of the Active window button to the inactive button color, but I managed to change that but the buttons max ans min in the smallest window don´t work either, it has to be a bug like you said Elwin, Thanks.......... Craeonics I´ll go and check that out, thanks....... BruB I agree LOL LOL
Oh, and beta 3 has been released... :)
These guys really move fast with betas. :)
aw shaddap you poof, i don´t bloody know where the off buttons :P
bloddy = bloody - d´uh!
Put the program in your startup and turn your bloddy computer off from time to time matey ;) <br /> <br />Restart and away you go. Then you can leave it on for months :D
hmm... neat proggie, but there´s gotta be made at least one serious change before start using it regulary: The fact that you have to restart every app you have open before any skinchanges take effect! That really bugs me. That was one of the reasons for why I dumped Trillian for mIRC! <br />But if there´s a work-around for this, I would really like to know it! :)
I see Scarebear has been busy on other things ShellWM related. <br />News soon... ;)
hmmmm I tried a little larger frame and it kept crashing the shellWM application :-(
ShellWM is sooooooo easy to skin! It can look difficult at first (the ini file), but that feeling will go away once you have read the text that is included in the Template skin :-) (but a tutorial will be nice SB.. :)
I´ll see what I can do :) My last tutorial was lengthy and I´m typed out now ;)
huh? i havent post in this treath until now!
Thanks Moshi. :) I already threw a skin together to find out. Just need to make some cooler looking buttons to finish it. ShellWM is a pretty dang cool. A ´back to basics´ app. I like it. :)
I´m trying to get Scarebear to do one. He actually has a web site to post it to... {:p
