Windows media player 9 is your cookie! Highly skinable, very fast, and has just about every codec you´ll need. Yes it plays mpeg4 if you install the codec. It may even come in pre-installed.

Sorry if this will disappoint you but RadLight is not "spyware" (o)

You can learn more about it here: http://www.radlight.net/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=2&t=2

P.S I am fed up with replying to such ***ing commies as you who think that everything should be free!

I feel ppl have a right to know.
I´m always vocal on spyware and not the only one it pisses off.
Remember how it was reacted to when it was discovered?
Oh ya, it deleted ad-aware for you.
Isn´t that nice?
There was a section for it on DA until this was found out.
Gee... I wonder where it went?

I already said the firewall thing, but there are ways around it.
I don´t use the app, and probly never will.

DAvenger: It is spyware. I´m going to tell ppl about it. Deal with it. If it pisses you off, I don´t care. If you want to make counter claims, go for it. Call me names and I´ll just let it be sign of you and your company. (o)

Snowman & pk: I´m will to take constructive critism on being informative. Here´s another way to think of it though: if there was an annoying bug, bad feature, or oversized ad, wouldn´t you say something about it, or understand if someone else did? This is just a bad feature too me. One that really gets on my bad side. Look at what I said:
1) It´s spyware.
2) What to do if someone decides to use it.

Look at what DAvenger said. Funny, the guy curses me off and acts like a jerk and nothing is said to him (unless that keep it clean was dirrected at him). I think anyone deserves more respect than that.

exactly PK :)
If you don´t like an app, don´t use it - don´t complain about it. There are plenty of other "fish in the sea"!

"And IF you find an app that is spyware/nagware/infoware/whateverware go bug about it on the developers pages, not on other sites! " Or just dont use the software :-)

Yeah... the Boss has spoken, keep it clean folks!
---

I can only speak for myself, but I like Ashampoo the best for playing movies/videos and DivX Player 2 for skinning.

I had a shot at skinning radlight..... no real success - yet.

------

And if you´re so damn paranoid about which apps you´re using, that sends out info, get a freaking firewall and block´em from accessing the web - that´s what I do.
And IF you find an app that is spyware/nagware/infoware/whateverware go bug about it on the developers pages, not on other sites!

>>We should suggest our opinion to Xymantix about movie players :)

Exactly!

P.S Some people simply have no idea what does Freeware cost us, software developers ...

i´ve tested radlight and I like it. I´m also trying to make skin for it, but not finished yet.

I´ve understand you DAvenger and my opinion that $20 it´s not much for that kind of software.
I can say from my point of view, if I count how many books i purchase for learning programming and how many time is needed for that... but anyway I think this thread shouldn´t be some war thread about spyware and similar stuff.

We should suggest our opinion to Xymantix about movie players :)

The skinnable movie players I haved used recently are:

Media Jukebox - http://www.mediajukebox.com/
Windows Media Player - You can find it :)
Ashampoo Media Player+ - http://www.ashampoo.com/default.htm

I am not a big movie watcher, but I did like these applications. The first and third ones becuase they are lesser known (and are good).

Oh ya, I think BS-Players menu is on figurable. Haven´t messed with it. You can get to the zoom easily though. Better yet, got a scroll wheel? It will scroll window size in the normal mode, and volume in the full screen. In normal mode you can turn off the window boards too. I kinda wish it was skinnable around the boarder, but this is cool too.

Xymantix: Call me Red. 8) Zoom player is cool from what I know. You could set it so normaly it opens in one player, then the other in full screen from the context menu. Heck I usually have a few viewer per file type that way. lol

Traveelian: Actually I do if it tracks what files and movies you are playing then stores them on a central server. Especially if it´s covert about it and does it before asking.

Xymantix: I wouldn´t be surprized if it were true. If I were you I would stay away from it. M$ software doesn´t like to play nice. It does keep track of every file you play and sends it to a central server. A server that was broken into, so has lacks security. They also didn´t keep thier privicy policy up to date. They had to get called on it to put it in there. It also has a vague ability to to let M$ edit files or your system. You can get 7.1 from www.oldversions.com but I took that crap off quick. All the codecs it includes and them some are in k-lite anyway.

If you run it or radlite, use ad-aware and a firewall.

Btw, if you see a skin you like, we may be able to port it to BS Player. Not really a big deal. 8)

Wow - thanks for all of the suggestions! BS Player sounds pretty cool, and I know that Radlight has some sweet skins. I´ll start by looking at those. I recall hearing some stuff about WMP9 where you can´t ever uninstall it, it permanently changes your system, yadda yadda yadda. Any truth to that?

If you call sending usage statistics spyware, Winamp3 is spyware then too. (also plays video)

BS PLAYER!!!!!!! 8)

I just discovered that it´s skins can have special views in the full screen when you touch the bottom of the screen (or other stuff if the skin is made to do it). It can self associate like CoolPlayer too. Built in extra icon too.

It´s also includied with k-lite codec pack. http://www.k-lite.tk All installed for you in one shot.

BS-Player is a tiny, fast app too. Also easy to skin, and I made one myself so I can help if you take a stab at it.

Note: Radlite and WiMP are spyware. }:|

I suggest you Nimo Codec Pack: http://nimo.titanesk.com/modules/news/
This package have all needed codecs and stuff you ever need for movies :)

My favourite player is BS Player (skinnable) http://www.bsplayer.org/
It´s freeware and skinnable and support subtitles.

You should also try with RadLight, PowerDVD and all other mentioned here before or later my post :)

LOL LOL
