In classical painting I like Magritte, Dali and Monet. in more modern Crae is right, Lichtenstein and pop-art is pretty cool. Warhol and the type.

Localy Arthur Villeneuve (1910-1990) and Jean-Paul Riopelle (1924-2002) are two of the best known artists of Quebec.

In no specific order : <br />-All the seascapes, and especially Le Lorrain&acute;s and Vernet&acute;s astonishing sunsets. Probably due to the fact I&acute;m a great fan of ancient sailing ships, especially fregates and clippers. <br />The medevial painters, the ones who did miniatures in the manuscripts, but the guys were just craftsmen and their name is not remembered most of the time... It&acute;s amazing to be able to tell a whole story in one little square... <br />Romantism, Symbolism... (there was a magnifiscent exposition on Symbolism in Montreal in 1995, I was so glad I could see it !). I love Burn-Jones and Rosetti. <br />Magritte of course (he was probably the first &quot;3D&quot; artist ;-), I mean he already used mapping and morphing, but he did this with his brushes, it&acute;s real amazing !). I like Dali well enough. - Norman Rockwell. Wajtek Siudmack, (a surrealist painter who&acute;s from Poland but works mostly in France). <br />- Fantasy art. I doubt anybody knows about french fantasy artist Florence Magnin, she&acute;s a painter and a comic-strip author, she&acute;s magical, try this link : http://membres.lycos.fr/fmagnin/ <br />In a wholly different style there&acute;s spanish artist Vincente Segrelles (have a look at http://www.segrelles.com/home_english.htm), this guy&acute;s real great ! <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />

Snow, you suck up! <br /> <br /><b>Flamme:</b> If you like Segrelle, how about those other fantasy artists, like Boris Vallejo? They all have similar styles (and use the same material).

I think Boris Vallejo is a bit &quot;too much&quot;, even if his technics are real perfect. I like to read Conan stories but the &quot;Conan style&quot; pictures are worse than the words. That&acute;s also true for Richard Hescox and Frazetta ! And Rowena Morill&acute;s far too cold and liveless. For the beautifull sculptured men and woman Segrelles is the best, and his characters look as if there&acute;s a brain in their head, and his landscapes are so beautifull and fascinating ! <br />I like Tim Hildebrandt, Michael Whelan, Jody Lee and David Cherryh well enough (I bought a lot of DAW books when I was younger...)
