Longhorn & etc.

9x was aimed at the home market, NT at businesses. Microsoft´s strategy was to merge both series into one over time. ME was the last in the 9x series and I think XP´s the last in the NT series and the first step in their new direction.

Well, from what I udersteand, it&acute;s going to have a file system based on a database (no more paths as we know them), a new side bar that is a lot like a warf, special access to the system for virus protection plus other security measures, is supposed to be faster and more stable (ha!), and will have even more M$ integration of apps and crap. <br /> <br />I have a link to support the last one (besides the obvious trend): http://www.wininformant.com/Articles/Index.cfm?ArticleID=39145

Longhorn will definately be more stable (at least compared to 9x based OS&acute;s). I&acute;ve also heard that it will be more seamless with the internet for those that have constant net connections. (realtime news etc that runs into the &quot;wharf&quot;).
