Once upon on time I used ICQ but stopped cuz it de-railed me from work (me will chat all day long if I open it so I stopped a long while back)
and to answer your question "why" cuz half the world uses ICQ (including all my family) so that´s why I tried ICQ plus cuz at the time it turned me onto skinning...

hmmm uesd to be a big ICQ junkie, until i lost track of everyone i talked to... then skinning came along, and now it´s trillian pro for me, and yes, i am connected to every service, including two IRC servers at all times (and sometimes multiple AIM names, but not always). I love the winamp plug-in and the mail notification too!

Trillian Pro...I use all IM clients (except msn) and I´m on IRC from time to time so Trillian allows me to connect to all of em without desktop clutter.

Plus its nicely skinable :)

Miranda actually. It´s not skinnable, but it´s incredably light and configurable. You can have an image in the background of the list too. Mine only shows user names (and resizes so it doesn´t take up any extra spcae) so it´s virtually skinnable for me. It has all the plugins you would want too: ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo*, IRC*, smilies*, news* (eg. rss), e-mail check* (pop3), weather*, ect.

*not included with installer, but I can link/send them to you.

On a slow computer is makes a big difference, and on a fast one it leaves all the more resources open.

My only wish is that it would defy the systray icon convention that IM apps always do. I want the sucker in they taskbar. Death to the system tray! }:|

Site: http://miranda-im.org/
Download: http://miranda-im.org/release/download.php
ScreenShots: http://miranda-im.org/about/screenshots.php

I just work off of Trillian, which is skinnable, of course. I really like it. Technically, it´s Trillian Pro ;-)
