Well,.. what to say more? Thats all there is folks!

One little thing though: Although most of the time there are more then 3 people chatting to eachother you will see more people in the "nick list". These people are idleing in the channel (away from their computer).

Now join or I will bite you!

jim373: You where on the wrong IRC server (irc.stardock.com).

IRC is not on huge, all connected, network such as MSN, AOL or ICQ, its just a common protocol (Internet Relay Chat) that makes it easy for people to set up a server and let people connect without downloading yet another piece of software (well,.. thats one of the things.. its a little bit more complicated ;) ).

There are thousends of companees, individuals & organisations who run an IRC server, sometime for private use, sometimes open for all. Some of these networks are huge (100000´s of users, EFNet, Undernet, Dalnet, IRCNet etc..) and need 100´s of connected computers to run themself, and some are tiny (>100 users, irc.stardock.com or irc.thirty4.com (home of #skinbase)) and need only 1 or 2 servers.

These networks arnt connected; a user from channel #skinbase on irc.stardock.com cannot see a user from channel #skinbase on irc.thirty4.com.

In short:
- Download the mIRC IRC client (good & free software to chat on IRC) from mirc.com
- Select File -> Options
- Fill in the Full Name, Email Address, Nickname and Alternative Nickname boxes, dont worry, it aint being recorded and you dont have to pay anything..
- Click the "Add" button
- Type irc.thirty4.com in the "IRC Server" box
- Click "Add"
- Click "Connect to IRC Server"
- The "Options" window will close itself and the mIRC will connect to the server
- Now click on the input box / line on the bottom of the mIRC window
- Type this in it: /join #skinbase (no space infront of /join)
- Press Enter
- Now you are in channel #skinbase on the irc.thirty4.com network

Hmm, that wasnt short :---)

Have fun people
- Start chatting :)

Okay, I went through the *gasp* Wincustomise IRC client and went to #Skinbase and there was nobody in
there at all except me... is this normal or was I in the wrong place? It did say I was in #Skinbase.... :)

Maybe we should kick this on top again,.. should we?

Idea: Have some forum threads ´fixed´ on every page, such as this one (usefull information), they could be called "Fixed Messageboard Threads" or something like that.. :)

/pk:

Skinbase has a FAQ, maybe it could link to some forum threads or so. :)

Maybe you can add the following hyperlink to the website:

irc://irc.thirty4.com/SkinBase

Not sure if the message board supports IRC hyperlinks, but InternetExplorer does. If an mIRC user clicks such a link it will start mIRC. connect to the irc.thirty4.com server on port 6667 and will join #SkinBase automatically. Althernatively use the following direct link to connect using the DeskMod server:

irc://irc.deskmod.com/SkinBase
