Reducing file sizes

has nothing to do with the programs you use. blame MS for that horrible format. <br />the only way to have smaller BMPs is to use an indexed color palette. i use Photoshop, but i´m sure PSP can do that also.

Pray enlighten me moshi. <br /> <br />Update - 14.07 local time. <br /> <br />I&acute;ve just been playing with a copy of the Gimp that I have downloaded, and I see what you mean by an indexed palette. Thanks.

The file format used is dependent on the file format that the app you want to skin expects. You cannot just use indexed bitmaps if the app you want to skin does not support that.

The &quot;developers pack&quot; that can be downloaded from Ultra has two skin examples both comprising of a number of image files tagged as BMP. <br /> <br />I&acute;ve had a look through the accompanying reading and it merely says bitmaps, it doesn&acute;t mention specific types. I&acute;ll see if it works on my machine first.
