geOshell is a free, opensource shell replacement and is so easy to skin even Titan could do it :) If anyone wants do to it, I would be more than willing to confuse them.<BR>Paxx - I know it&acute;s not as popular as ls, but it IS another choice :)<BR><BR>/me hides from Titan and Paxx

I think that this is one of the coolest ideas I&acute;ve ever seen. I&acute;m making it news I think. It deserves that much :) <BR><BR>A skin suite to get people into skinning for the first time or into other programs they may have always wanted to know how to skin. I&acute;m offering my assistance on this project.<BR><BR>If I had a fools cap, I&acute;d take it off to Elwin now ;)

okay, seeing as how noone has yet to properly kick the game off:<BR><BR>i would like to skin HoverDesk, but have little idea how. i think it would make a decent contribution to TANSTAAFL (love that word) because its a desktop replacement, and u at least need one of them. Coolplayer is a relatively easy to skin Mp3 player. It is meant to be small and fast, but has all of the important features - like freeform skinning. I can help anyone who would like to take a shot at it. There&acute;s no endlessly cutting up images into buttons, you just have to set the co-ordinates, and there&acute;s even a program to help with that! <BR><BR>http://www.daansystems.com/coolplayer/index2.html <BR>This is a good place to learn more. Don&acute;t be afraid to post if you&acute;re interested, there are lots of people who are eager to help on this one.

I will contribute to the confusion if I&acute;m needed!<BR><BR>LiteSTEP, the only true Explorer shell replacement and still FREE. Not only do you get a core LS.exe and the essential mods that totally replace and then enhance Explorer&acute;s start menu and desktop functions, but you also have hundreds of additional, free and fully skinnable LS modules/apps performing functions of more popular non-free applications you currently may be using.

Greybook is a great freeware program, and is relatively easy to skin. the program is still availbale formt he orphan apps section at Teknidermy Magazine, adn form Attilas site.<BR>I use it every day, and have skinned it before, so i could answer questions, should that arise.<BR>

I am an absolute beginner to skinning. My group is building a software application for the internet, where do i start to learn how to make our application skinnable by all of you (assuming you like the toy we are making)?

Not shareware.<BR>I think these types of programs are needed:<BR>1- A shell or shell enhancement proggy<BR>2- A windows skinning proggy<BR>3- A media player<BR>4- A text editor<BR>5- A messenging proggy<BR>6- A clock<BR><BR>I think these are the essentials. Others can be added.<BR>So, which specific apps should be skinned. In the above order, I suggest the followings:<BR>1- Litestep: the only popular, free one, althouhg it is a little difficult, there is no other choice.<BR>2- The only free only I think is eFX, but it&acute;s not supported anymore and really outdated. I think we should bend the rule a little and allow the free version of Windowblinds, but having only the features that the free version has skinned. This way the freeware user will not get disapointed to not get the whole thing.<BR>3- Coolplayer: The easiest, most versatile free player.<BR>4- kewlpAd: again: free, easy to use an the best skinnable text editor out there.<BR>5- ICQ Plus: the most popular proggy. But Trillian could be cool too, but skinning it can be a PITA.<BR>6- Beatnik: a nice skinnable clock and there is nothing easier to skin.<BR><BR>My 2c.

SkinMem: a nice resource meter, Very simple to skin, (maybe simpler than BeatNik) ;) Freeware.
