LogonStudio is a program that allows users to easily make their own logons for Windows XP. No need for a resource hacker or anything, a simple visual point and click interface lets people create logons. Additionally, LogonStudio has the added advantage of using a new open format (.LOGONs) rather than distributing the entire logonui.exe (which is technically illegal to do since logonui.exe belongs to Microsoft). .Logons contain just the resources and skin info that LogonStudio then uses to apply the logon. The net result is that file sizes are much smaller and much more manageable for new users since a .logon file is just a .zip file renamed with the bitmaps inside (hence it is very easy to just modify the bitmaps directly with Photoshop or some other program). Because it´s a "skin format" rather than an actual executable being distributed, .logons also contain author information which allows logon authors to take credit for their work (and protect it to a degree from ripping).
