New Region 1 Releases Planned

VCI Entertainment has set an April 24th street date for the release of The Lone Ranger (1956) and The Lone Ranger & the Lost City of Gold (1958) - based on the "Lone Ranger" TV series - on DVD.

Both titles will be released as 2-disc special editions, and both of them will contain the films in their original widescreen and fullscreen versions, and mono soundtracks in English. Bonus material on "The Lone Ranger" will include interviews with Michael Ansara and Clayton Moore´s daughter Dawn Moore, a photo gallery, biographies, and the original theatrical trailer.
Extras on "The Lone Ranger & the Lost City of Gold" will include archival footage of Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels´ induction ceremonies into the National Cowboy Hall of Fame (including a performance of the "William Tell Overture" by Glen Campbell), a photo gallery, biographies, and original theatrical trailers.

Paramount will be releasing Mommie Dearest, starring Faye Dunaway, on July 17th. The film will be presented in a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, with a Dolby Digital 5.1 surround soundtrack in English and a 2.0 mono track in French. Extras will include a photo gallery and the trailer.

Paramount will also be releasing a special edition of A Place in the Sun, starring Montgomery Clift and Elizabeth Taylor, the same day. The film will be presented in its original 1.33:1 aspect ratio, with a 2.0 surround soundtrack in English and a mono track in French. The disc will also include an audio commentary with son of late director George Stevens, Sr.George Stevens, Jr., interviews with Liz Taylor, George Stevens, Jr., Shelley Winters, and Ivan Moffat.

Columbia has announced the release of The Karate Kid Part II and The Karate Kid Part III on June 13th. Both films will be presented in anamorphic widescreen and fullscreen transfers, along with 2.0 surround soundtracks in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese, as well as subtitles in the same four languages. EXtras will include talent files and trailers - "Part II" will also include a making-of featurette.

To conclude, Columbia has also announced a June 15th release date for a special edition of The Mask of Zorro - the film was initially released in a barebone edition in zone 1. This new edition will feature a 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack in English, as well as 2.0 surround tracks and subtitles in French, Spanish and Portuguese. Bonus material will include an audio commentary with director Martin Campbell, the "Unmasking Zorro" documentary, deleted scenes, two still galleries, a music video, talent files, production notes as well as trailers.
