Imagine recording your favorite TV shows onto your PC hard drive, burning them onto DVDs, and taking them with you. <BR>

A new Vaio computer due next month from Sony promises to do just that. The Sony Vaio Digital Studio ($2,500) comes with a built-in TV tuner, a piece of equipment that allows a PC to act like a television set. It also comes with software that captures the video and compresses it into either MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 video, and a built-in recordable DVD drive.

The 80 gigabyte hard drive is divided into two parts -- 20 GB for the PC side of the machine and 60GB for the personal video recorder side. It runs a Pentium 4, 1.7 GHz processor and comes with 128 MB of RAM.
